A disposable absorbent article is provided having an absorbent core located in a chassis and including absorbent particulate polymer material defining at least one cavity. The absorbent core may be substantially cellulose free or comprise a combination of particulate absorbent polymer material and wood pulp. Methods for making such an absorbent core and corresponding disposable absorbent article are also disclosed.

Disposable absorbent article

The present disclosure is directed, in part, to an absorbent article having a front waist edge, a rear waist edge longitudinally opposing the front waist edge, a longitudinal axis extending from a midpoint of the front waist edge to a midpoint of the rear waist edge, a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed at least partially intermediate the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent core having superabsorbent polymers and a channel network substantially free of the superabsorbent polymers. The channel network having a perimeter channel, a first longitudinal channel inboard of the perimeter channel, a second longitudinal channel inboard of the perimeter channel, and one or more connecting lateral channels. The one or more connecting lateral channels connect one of the first longitudinal channel to the second longitudinal channel or the perimeter channel to the perimeter channel.

Absorbent articles with channels and/or pockets

A disposable absorbent article is provided having an absorbent core located in a chassis and including absorbent particulate polymer material defining at least one cavity for improved isolation of fecal matter or other body exudates. The absorbent core may be substantially cellulose free. Methods for making such an absorbent core and corresponding disposable absorbent article are also disclosed.

Disposable absorbent article with varied distribution of absorbent particulate polymer material and method of making same

The present disclosure is directed, in part, to an absorbent article comprising an absorbent core disposed at least partially intermediate the topsheet and the backsheet and comprising a core wrap enclosing an absorbent material. The core wrap comprises a first material and a second material. The first material forms a C-wrap at least partially around the second material. The absorbent material comprises at least 80% of superabsorbent polymers by weight of the absorbent material. The absorbent core comprises a channel substantially free of the superabsorbent polymers and at least partially oriented in a longitudinal direction of the article. The channel has an arcuate portion facing a longitudinal axis of the article. An angle between a tangent line of the arcuate portion and the longitudinal axis is greater than or equal to 20 degrees.

Absorbent articles with channels

The present disclosure is directed, in part, to an absorbent article comprising an absorbent core enclosing an absorbent material comprising superabsorbent polymers. The absorbent core comprises a first channel and a second channel, both of which are substantially free of the superabsorbent polymers and are at least partially oriented in a longitudinal direction of the article. The first and second channels each have lateral widths taken parallel to a lateral axis. The absorbent core comprises a pocket that is substantially free of the superabsorbent polymers and that has a portion on a longitudinal axis of the article. The pocket has lateral widths taken parallel to the lateral axis. A profile of the sum of the lateral widths of the first and second channels and the lateral widths of the pocket over a longitudinal length of at least 50 mm taken along the longitudinal axis has two separate substantially constant portions.

A disposable absorbent article is disclosed including an inner part including a sheet of material having an inner side, an outer side opposite the inner side, a front waist region, and a rear waist region, wherein the front waist region is connected with the rear waist region to form a waist opening and two leg openings; an outer part including an absorbent material, the outer part being separate from the inner part and adapted to be worn over the outer side of the inner part such that the inner part can be worn independently of the outer part; and an opening in the sheet of material of the inner part for allowing bowel movement waste to pass through the opening so that the inner part cooperates with the outer part in use to collect and retain bowel movement waste between the inner and outer parts.
