The invention relates to a panel which is suitable for use as wall and/or ceiling paneling, in addition to an associated method for laying said panels and a method for the production thereof. The inventive panel for a wall or ceiling comprises coupling means. The coupling means are embodied in such a way that the panel can be joined to other panels in various positions. Said positions can, for example, involve various distances between the longitudinal edges of two panels that are arranged in parallel. According to the inventive laying method, a first panel is engaged with a second panel in a first step, whereupon the panels assume an angular position in relation to each other. At least one of the panels, particularly the first panel, is pivoted in a second step on a common plane, whereupon the panels become locked in relation to each other.

The invention relates to connection elements comprising a tongue () and a groove (), and an additional locking element () which is connected thereto in a non-positive manner, which consists of a plastic or adhesive material and is especially embodied as a bar.

The invention relates to panels comprising coupling means which permit the panels to be interconnected by form fit. A first panel comprises a projecting edge positioned laterally on its underside as the coupling element. A second panel comprises a projecting edge positioned laterally on its upper side as the coupling element. One of the aforementioned edges has a first projecting locking element which engages in a corresponding first cavity or recess of the other edge when the two panels are joined together. The panels comprise additional coupling elements which lock the panels by form fit in a vertical direction, in relation to the surface of said panels. The coupling elements are configured in such a way that one panel can be connected to the other panel by form fit, by lowering the former in relation to the latter. Two panels of the aforementioned type can be interconnected without adhesive in a particularly rapid manner.

Panels with coupling means

The invention relates to panels () that can be interlinked without using glue. In the interlinked state of the panels, a cord () runs along the upper side of and between the panels. Said cord widens downwards and rests on the upper side of a spring () that forms the coupling element of a panel. The widening is preferably asymmetric. The inventive panels especially allow to provide a wall covering or a ceiling covering in an especially simple manner. The cord consists of a compressible material and prevents water from entering the gap between the panels. The design also compensates for effects related to expansion and shrinkage.

Bordered panels, especially for walls and ceilings

Panels or boards comprise laterally mounted locking elements that can be inter-connected laterally in a positive fit, without the use of adhesive. The locking elements are designed to be connected in an initial position in which the panels are interlocked at least in one direction in a positive fit and a certain amount of play occurs in the common joint of the two panels. The panels may then be shifted, in a parallel direction relative to the common joint, to final position in which there is no play in the common joint and the panels are interconnected without the use of adhesive.

The invention relates to a compression device for compressing a stratified material for producing panels, in particular for a floor, comprising two heated plates, gripping and transport elements, with which a 5 to 12 mm thick stratified material for producing floor panels is gripped and transported between the plates of the compression device. Said device also comprises displacement elements which convey the heated plates to the stratified material in order to compress the latter, whereby the position of the heated of the gripping elements is chosen in such a way that the gripping elements are located next to the press plates. The displacement elements are controlled in such a way that both heated plates reach the stratified material simultaneously and are withdrawn from said stratified material in the same manner. The device enables particularly wide, high-quality panels to be produced.
