Processes for preparing stabilized metal-containing nanoparticles comprising silver and/or a silver alloy composite by reacting a silver compound with a reducing agent comprising a hydrazine compound at a temperature between about 20&#xb0; C. and about 60&#xb0; C. The reaction being carried out by incrementally adding the silver compound or a mixture of the silver compound and a stabilizer to a solution comprising the reducing agent, a stabilizer, and a solvent. The present process for making the antioxidant has proven to be repeatable, cheaper, faster and safer than conventional processes. In particular, the present process uses a different solvent system where crude bis(4-diethylamino-2-methylphenyl)-(4-diethylaminophenylmethane) is dissolved in methylethyl ketone at room temperature, followed by product precipitation in a warm mixture of ethanol and water.

Antioxidants for overcoat layers and methods for making the same

In an embodiment, there is a method of preparing a conductive ink formulation. The method can include dissolving a stabilizer in a first solvent, adding a reducing agent to the first solvent, adding a metal salt to the first solvent and forming a slurry by precipitating stabilized metal nanoparticles in the first solvent. The method can also include forming a wet cake of the stabilized metal nanoparticles and adding the wet cake to a second solvent. The second solvent can include at least one of a polyvinyl alcohol derivative. The wet cake may not be actively dried prior to being added to the second solvent.

Processes for producing organoamine-stabilized silver nanoparticles are disclosed. The processes comprise: (a) forming a solution comprising an organic solvent and a first amount of organoamine; (b) adding silver salt particles to the solution; (c) adding a second amount of organoamine to the solution; (d) adding an organohydrazine to the solution; and (e) reacting the solution to form organoamine-stabilized silver nanoparticles.

A process including: (a) forming a feature comprising uncoalesced silver-containing nanoparticles; (b) heating the uncoalesced silver-containing nanoparticles to form coalesced silver-containing nanoparticles wherein the feature comprising the coalesced silver-containing nanoparticles exhibits a low electrical conductivity; and (c) subjecting the coalesced silver-containing nanoparticles to an acid-containing composition to increase the electrical conductivity of the feature by at least about 100 times.
