Oil based emulsifiable concentrates include (a) at least one oil component; (b) at least one surfactant hydrocarboxyl saccharide, particularly a surfactant hydrocarbyl polysaccharide (HPS); and (c) at least one other non-ionic surfactant. The concentrates are typically homogeneous for at least 24 hours and emulsify readily on dilution into water. The concentrates preferably also include: (d) an antifoaming agent, especially a polysiloxane; and/or (e) at least one chemical agent specific to the intended use of the composition, such as an agrochemical, especially a herbicide, or a metal corrosion inhibitor. The concentrates can be diluted readily in water to give emulsion formulations which can be sprayed onto substrates, e.g. when the chemical agent is a herbicide, onto weeds.

Homogenous agrochemical concentrates and agrochemical formulations obtained therefrom

Aqueous agrochemical compositions of dispersed phase agrochemicals, particularly phytoactives, such as growth regulators and/or herbicides, or pesticides, such as insecticides, fungicides, or acaricides, include as adjuvant a branched primary alcohol alkoxylate of the formula (1): &lsqb;CH .(CH ) &rsqb;&lsqb;CH .(ch ) &rsqb;. CH.&lsqb;(CH ) .O.(AO) .H&rsqb; where n, m, p, AO and q have defined meanings are disclosed. In the compositions, the agrochemical can be present as dispersible granules or dissolved or dispersed in an oil. The compositions can be concentrates or diluted sprayable compositions. A particularly convenient form of composition is as dispersible granules.

Agrochemical surfactant compositions

A composition comprising a solution which comprises a hydrocarbyl polysaccharide, a non-ionic surfactant and an antifoam component, which antifoam component forms a separate phase on dilution with water, thereby reducing the foam which would normally arise from the hydrocarbyl polysaccharides, which is especially useful when it is necessary to spray the composition. The composition is useful as an adjuvant for example in agrochemical formulation, for example growth regulators, herbicides, and especially pesticides (such as insecticides, fungicides or acaricides), or as in the cleaning of hard surfaces, for example bottles. A concentrate and a corresponding dilute formulation e.g. for such purposes, in which an appropriate chemical agent is present, and processes for preparing and using the composition, concentrate and dilute formulation.
