A reagent dosing system includes an injector having an outlet configured to be in fluid communication with the exhaust conduit; a reagent tank configured to hold a volume of reagent; a water tank configured to hold a volume of water; and a means for 1) pumping reagent from the reagent tank to the injector for injection of reagent into the exhaust conduit and 2) pumping water from the water tank to the injector for flushing residual reagent from the injector.

Reagent dosing system and method

An engine control system includes a fuel injector and a sensor that is configured to provide a signal indicative of a temperature. A controller is in communication with the sensor. The controller includes a fuel injector driver in communication with the fuel injector. The fuel injector driver includes a saturated mode and a peak and hold mode. The controller is configured to command the fuel injector driver to control the fuel injector with one of the saturated mode or the peak and hold mode based upon the signal. For a high resistance injector, the peak and hold mode is used in cold weather conditions to break free an injector seal, and then the fuel injector driver reverts to the saturated mode.

A pulsation damper is disposed within a fluid volume defined by a fluid volume wall such that the pulsation damper is exposed to pressure pulsations within the fluid volume. The pulsation damper includes a pulsation damper first half having a first damper wall which is flexible in response to the pressure pulsations; a pulsation damper second half having a second damper wall which is flexible in response to the pressure pulsations; and a damping volume defined between the pulsation damper first half and the pulsation damper second half such that the damping volume is fluidly segregated from the fluid volume. One of the pulsation damper first half and the pulsation damper second half defines a spacing member which maintains separation between the fluid volume wall and one of the first damper wall and the second damper wall.

Pulsation damper

A fuel injector includes a valve member for selectively preventing and permitting flow of fuel through a valve seat by selectively engaging and disengaging the valve seat, an actuator for selectively applying a force to the valve member in order to unseat the valve member from the valve seat, and a return spring which biases the valve member into contact with the valve seat when the actuator is not applying the force to the valve member. A calibration tube is positioned within the fuel tube and holds the return spring in compression so as to set a force on the return spring to achieve a desired dynamic flow of fuel through the fuel injector. The calibration tube includes at least one protrusion extending outward therefrom such that the protrusion engages the fuel tube, thereby creating a spring fit between the calibration tube and the fuel tube.

A fuel injector is provided with a fuel inlet, a fuel outlet, and a fuel passage for communicating fuel from the inlet to the outlet. A valve and valve seat assembly is provided for selectively preventing and permitting fuel to pass from the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet. The valve seat is defined by a tubular body and a valve seat that traverses an inside wall surface of the tubular body. An upstream face of the valve seat is downstream of an upstream end of the tubular body and a downstream face of the valve seat is upstream of a downstream end of the tubular body. At least one passage is provided through the tubular body beginning downstream of the downstream face of the valve seat and upstream of the downstream end of the tubular body. A cover may be disposed at the downstream end of the tubular body.

Valve seat and shroud for gaseous fuel injector

An anti-coking bushing assembly for sealing a pintle shaft of an EGR control valve, comprising a bushing carrier disposed in the valve body and supportive of close-fitting pintle shaft bushing liners formed of a polyimide such as Vespel. The bushing carrier and bushing liners are installed into a carbon shield extending into the exhaust flow space within the valve. Within the carbon shield, between the gas flow space and the bushing carrier, is a ring seal on the pintle shaft and a gas expansion chamber to cool exhaust gas escaping along the pintle shaft, allowing contaminants in the exhaust gas to precipitate in the gas expansion chamber. The carbon shield, ring seal, bushing carrier, and bushing liners are conveniently pre-assembled as an anti-coking bushing assembly for subsequent installation into a valve body during final valve assembly.

A fuel injection apparatus for use in an internal combustion engine includes a fuel injector having a valve member which is operable to control injection of fuel through an injector outlet, a first supply path having a first path length for delivering fuel to an injector control chamber, a second supply path having a second path length for delivering fuel to an injector delivery chamber and a control valve for controlling fuel pressure within the injector control chamber so as to control movement of the valve member. An actuation means is arranged to vary at least one of the first and second path lengths in response to one or more injection parameters. Varying the first and/or second path length enables resonant pressure pulses within the control chamber and/or delivery chamber to be optimized so as to minimize the pressure differential across the valve needle at the instant of closure of the control valve to terminate injection, thus reducing needle closure response.

Fuel injection apparatus

An exhaust gas recirculation valve having a reciprocating pintle shaft supported by a sleeve bushing and having a labyrinthine pathway between a valve operating chamber and a shaft/bushing interface to minimize intrusion of exhaust gases into the interface. The labyrinthine pathway is formed between fixed annular elements of the valve body and shaft bushing and a movable annular element of the valve head telescopically disposed between the fixed elements.
