The fusion peptide inhibitors of HCOV-229E include peptide #121 The fusion peptide inhibitors of HCoV-229E may be administered to a subject in need thereof to inhibit or prevent HCOV-229E cellular entry or infection with HCoV-229E. The fusion peptide inhibitors of HCoV-229E may also be used in HCoV-229E inhibition assays.

Novel dimethyl 7-bromo-1-(4-substituted benzoyl)pyrrolo[1,2-α]quinoline-2,3-dicarboxylates compounds, having the structure: A method of synthesizing said compounds, a pharmaceutical composition comprising said compounds and a suitable carrier, and a method of using the compounds. The dimethyl 7-bromo-1-(4-substituted benzoyl)pyrrolo[1,2-α]quinoline-2,3-dicarboxylates compounds, identified as anti-inflammatory agents, are useful for treating inflammation, pain, and swelling in a patient.

Compounds 1-4 may inhibit both the COX-1 and the COX-2 enzymes.
