An information handling system may include a processor; a network interface; and a physical storage resource having data stored thereon that is usable by a virtual resource that is executable on the processor. The network interface may accelerate migration of the data to a destination system by, in response to a command from a virtual machine manager: offloading, from the processor, a copying process configured to copy the data to the destination system; tracking portions of the data that are changed by the virtual resource during the copying process; notifying the virtual machine manager that a designated checkpoint has been reached in the copying process; causing the virtual resource to pause; completing the copying process; and causing the virtual resource to resume and use the copied data at the destination instead of the data on the physical storage resource.

An information handling system may include a host system including a first root complex, a management controller including a second root complex, a network interface controller, and at least one switching circuit. The information handling system may be configured to, in response to the host system being powered on: couple the network interface controller to the management controller via the first root complex; and wherein the information handling system is further configured to, in response to the host system being powered off: activate the at least one switching circuit to couple the network interface controller to the management controller via the second root complex.

A storage controller includes a storage controller memory to store virtual disk metadata including an original stripe size (OSS) field and a logical stripe size (LSS) field, and a cache memory having an OSS buffer and a LSS buffer. The storage controller stores a first block size in the OSS field, configures a RAID array to provide storage blocks of the first block size based on the OSS field, stores a second block size in the LSS field, receives a first data transaction that includes a first data block of the second block size based upon the LSS field, maps the first data block from the second block size to the first block size, and executes the first data transaction on the RAID array using the first block size.

System and method to enable dynamic changes to virtual disk stripe element sizes on a storage controller

An information handling system includes first and second nodes and a storage enclosure. The nodes share access to the storage enclosure. The nodes bind a logical unit number (LUN) in the storage enclosure consistently regardless of an order in which the two devices access the LUN. The system further preferably includes a switch between the nodes and the storage enclosure wherein multiple paths exist between a node and the storage enclosure. The storage enclosure preferably includes first and second storage processors and multiple ports per processor. The first node preferably includes first and second host bus adapters. The first host bus adapter preferably connects the node to a first of the switches and the second host bus adapter connects the node to a second of the switches. The system preferably includes multiple paths between the first node and a LUN in the storage enclosure.

Systems and methods for balancing electronic mailboxes among databases communicatively coupled to an information handling system are disclosed. A method may include comparing an actual utilization values for a first database to a threshold utilization value for the first database and, depending upon the results, identifying the first database as over-utilized. The method may also include comparing an actual utilization values for a second database to a threshold utilization value for the second database and, depending upon the results, identifying the second database as under-utilized. The method may further include comparing a threshold usage value of a first electronic mailbox stored in the first database to an upper threshold usage value for the first electronic mailbox and, depending upon the results, identifying the first electronic mailbox as heavily-utilized. The method may also include moving the heavily-utilized electronic mailbox to the second database.

System and method to dynamically allocate electronic mailboxes

A RAID controller is provided for each host sharing a RAID. Each RAID controller can determine whether another host is sharing the RAID and assume a master or slave status with respect to rebuild operations for the shared disk. The master controller may then manage any rebuild operations on rebuild disks within the RAID.

System and method for RAID recovery arbitration in shared disk applications

A storage architecture and method for managing the operation of a network in a RAID environment is provided in which a storage management agent is included in each server node of the network. The storage management agents monitor the status of the drives of the storage array in shared storage. If a storage management agent identifies a failed drive, the storage management agent monitors the rebuild of the degraded RAID volume. During the rebuild of a degraded RAID volume, the storage management agent determines if a server node has failed, and, if required, initiates the transfer of the RAID rebuild tasks of the failed server node to another server node.
