A system and method for a vehicle includes detecting within a first predetermined time period of a vehicle ignition transitioning from an OFF status to an ON status: (a) a rear door OPEN status; and (b) at least one of: (i) a stored record of rear seat occupancy; and (ii) a rear seat belt BUCKLED status; and outputting a rear seat occupancy indicator within the vehicle upon detecting the vehicle ignition transitioning from the ON status to the OFF status.

Rear seat occupant indication system and method

The vehicle rear occupant alert system provides alerts corresponding to occupancy of rear seats. The system comprises a door position sensor, an ignition sensor, and an alert system. Further, the alert system comprises a processor and a memory. The door position sensor determines a rear door status between an ajar position and a closed position. The ignition sensor determines an ignition state between an ON state and an OFF state. The alert system is coupled with the sensors. The processor adjusts status of the alert system as armed if the rear door transitions from ajar to closed position and the ignition transitions from OFF to ON state. The alert system notifies and alerts a driver to check the rear seat when the ignition transitions to OFF state. The processor rearms the alert system after the ignition transitions from OFF to ON state within a predefined time.

Rear occupant alert system

A system includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to specify a driving pattern including a vehicle speed and position in a lane to encode a message determined based on vehicle sensor data, and to actuate a vehicle actuator based on the encoded message.

Vehicle-to-infrastructure communication

A system includes a vehicle-processor in communication with an external vehicle sensor, wherein the processor is configured to detect another vehicle within a predefined proximity. The processor is further configured to instruct the external vehicle sensor to scan a characteristic of the another vehicle, responsive to the detecting. Also, the processor is configured to determine if the characteristic includes an anomaly, responsive to the scan and notify the driver of the another vehicle of the anomaly, responsive to the determination.

Method and apparatus for crowd-assisted prognostics and diagnostics

A vehicle includes a display including selectable indicia related to a plurality of mobile devices operable to enable a user to select a one of the plurality. The vehicle includes a controller configured to limit internet protocol traffic of the one traversing through a wireless access point within the vehicle to preserve quality of service for messages sent via the wireless access point related to the impact. The limitation is responsive to impact of the vehicle.

Quality of service in vehicle

A vehicle includes a multi-purpose automotive sound device for alerting pedestrians. The vehicle includes front and rear wheels, side mirrors, a sound device, and a controller. The sound device operates in a first mode and a second mode to generate an audio signal. The sound device is disposed adjacent to the front wheel and one of the side mirrors. The controller activates the sound device in the first mode or the second mode based on a state of the vehicle.
