The struts can be radially expandable from a first to a second radially expanded state in a deployed configuration. An actuation cable can be connected to a plurality of connections of the engaging framework of struts to apply an expansion force, by the struts, as the struts are actuated by the actuation cable from the first radially expanded state to the second radially expanded state. In the first radially expanded state, a distal end of the struts is spaced a first axial distance away from the shaft, and wherein in the second radially expanded state, a distal end of the struts is spaced a second axial distance, different than the first axial distance, away from the shaft.

The device includes a framework of struts that form a porous body comprising a collapsed delivery configuration capable of being stored in a microcatheter and an expanded deployed configuration when delivered to an occlusion and distal of the microcatheter. The framework of struts is constructed from a material visible under fluoroscopy and capable of recovering its shape in the expanded deployed configuration once released from the collapsed delivery configuration in the microcatheter.

A clot capture device for restoring blood flow to a vessel occluded by a clot including a plurality of struts formed by interconnected fibers terminating in a distal end. An open proximal end includes a clot capture space larger than the distal end. The device includes an expanded deployed configuration and a retracted delivery configuration whereby the device is advanceable through a microcatheter across the clot, and the device is configured such that upon deployment the device is deployed distal to the clot and then withdrawn to remove the clot from the vessel.

The device also comprises an elongate member or shaft () having a proximal end which extends exterior of a patient so that a user can retrieve the stent-basket device and captured clot by retracting the shaft (). The outer elongate body () and the inner elongate body () are connected to the distal end of the shaft () and are expandable relative to the shaft () from a collapsed delivery configuration to an expanded deployed configuration. The outer elongate body () is expandable relative to the inner elongate body () to a radial extent which is greater than the radial extent of the inner body () in the deployed configuration.
