This invention discloses a method for simplifying geometrical data in higher dimensions and in particular reducing three-dimensional (3D) mesh () from an original 3D mesh (). The simplification method comprises a series of reduction steps combined with operations that map the original data onto the reduced data in subsequent steps. The mapping allows calculation of absolute geometrical metrics, including distance and volume, for bounded simplification.

Bounded simplification of geometrical computer data

The present invention relates to a method for the creation of large hierarchical computer graphics datasets. The method comprises combination () of one or more primitive computer graphics data objects () into larger data objects, and simplifying each of the said combined data objects ().
