Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer-readable medium to perform operations including: decomposing the seismic data into a plurality of sub-volumes, each sub-volume associated with a respective one of the plurality of frequency components; identifying a portion of the seismic data that includes one or more multiples, the multiples being seismic data associated with multiply reflected seismic energy; identifying, based on the plurality of sub-volumes, the one or more multiples within the portion of the seismic data; and determining, from the plurality of frequency components, a single frequency that gives rise to a predetermined continuity along a primary reflector affected by the one or more multiples.

Frequency based method for reducing the effect of multiples in seismic data

The present disclosure describes methods and systems, including computer-implemented methods, computer program products, and computer systems for direct gas reservoir detection using frequency slope. One computer-implemented method includes receiving seismic data corresponding to a target formation. Further, the method includes based on a time-frequency analysis of the seismic data, generating a representation of a time-variant frequency response of the seismic data. Yet further, the method includes generating a frequency spectrum for each of one or more locations within the target formation using the representation of the time-variant frequency response. Additionally, the method includes calculating one or more frequency slopes between a peak frequency and a maximum frequency of each frequency spectrum. The method also includes based on the one or more frequency slopes, determining for each location whether gas are present.

Method and system of direct gas reservoir detection using frequency slope

The present disclosure describes methods and systems for interpreting geological features in a seismic volume based on mono-frequency filtering of the seismic volume. One computer-implemented method includes receiving a seismic data volume, decomposing the seismic data volume into multiple sub-volumes, generating one or more seismic horizons on each sub-volume, analyzing the generated seismic horizons for the multiple sub-volumes including determining a first sub-volume and a second sub-volume from the multiple sub-volumes, and subtracting the generated one or more seismic horizons for the first sub-volume from the generated one or more seismic horizons for the second sub-volume.

Frequency based geological feature detection from seismic data

Seismic data obtained from a seismic survey conducted of a subterranean region is received. The seismic data includes multiple frequency components, having a frequency bandwidth. A target, to-be-picked horizon is identified by displaying well data on the seismic section and correlating the seismic reflector with layer tops in the well data. A horizon represents a seismic reflector between two geological layers in the subterranean region. A single frequency that gives rise to a predetermined continuity along the target horizon is determined from the frequency bandwidth of the seismic data. The seismic data is filtered to mono-frequency volumes. The mono-frequency seismic volumes include a single frequency component. A horizon is picked corresponding to the target horizon based on the mono-frequency volumes. The identified horizon corresponding to the target horizon is output for determining geological features of the subterranean region based on the identified horizon.
