A display includes a first housing portion having graphic openings therein, a second housing portion spaced apart from the first housing portion and a first circuit board having a plurality of light emitting diodes. The first circuit board is disposed between the first housing portion and the second housing. The first housing portion and the second housing portion form a first photon recycling cavity having the plurality of light emitting diodes disposed therein so that light from the plurality of light emitting diodes is indirectly communicated through the graphic opening after reflecting within the photon cavity.

A segmented display includes a first housing portion having graphic openings therein, a second housing portion spaced apart from the first housing portion and a first circuit board comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs). The first circuit board is disposed between the first housing portion and the second housing portion. A first side wall and a second side wall are spaced apart from the first side wall. The first side wall and the second side wall define a plurality of photon recycling cavities in a sequence wherein adjacent photon recycling cavities having a shared end wall. At least one of the LED is disposed in each of the photon recycling cavities. Each LED is associated with an optical element redirecting light within the associated cavity so that light from the light emitting diode is indirectly communicated through the graphic opening after reflecting within the photon recycling cavity.

A light assembly includes a heat pipe having a first condenser portion and a first evaporator portion. The heat pipe has a longitudinally extending wall. A plurality of light sources is disposed at least partially around and thermally coupled to longitudinally extending wall at the first evaporator portion of the heat pipe. A heat sink housing has a heat sink portion, an electronic housing portion and a plurality of fins. The heat sink housing receives the first condenser portion of the heat pipe. The heat sink housing separated from the electronic housing portion by a wall. The electronic defines a drive circuit volume comprising a drive circuit and temperature sensor. The drive circuit reduces current to the light sources in response to the temperature signal.

High intensity discharge light assembly

A light assembly that includes a cover, a housing coupled to the cover, and a lamp base coupled to the cover. The light assembly also includes a first circuit board disposed within the housing. The first circuit board has a plurality of light sources thereon. A heat sink is thermally coupled to the light sources and is disposed within the housing. The heat sink includes openings therethrough. Each of the outer edges is in contact with the housing. The light assembly also includes an elongated control circuit board assembly electrically coupled to the light sources of the first circuit board and the lamp base. The control circuit board extends through the openings. The control circuit board has a plurality of electrical components thereon for controlling the light sources.

Light assembly having a control circuit in a base

An assembly includes a contact interface device, a lamp base and a circuit board. This device is connected to the circuit board and is used to bias the circuit board within the center of a cavity of a light bulb. This device contains two or more biasing portions that are connected to one another through a bridge portion. The biasing portions engage an interior threaded portion of the lamp base in order to lock into place and not allow the circuit board to move. The bridge portion allows the biasing portions to counteract one another and suspend the circuit board in the middle of the cavity of the light bulb.

A light assembly includes a heat pipe having a first condenser portion and a first evaporator portion. The heat pipe includes a longitudinally extending wall. A plurality of light sources are disposed at least partially around and thermally coupled to longitudinally extending wall at the first evaporator portion of the heat pipe. A first heat sink housing receives the first condenser portion of the heat pipe.

A vehicle light assembly comprising a light chamber secured to a vehicle member. The chamber includes a partially transmissive lens and an interior. The interior includes a plurality of isotropically luminant surfaces and a substantially reflective surface. Further, the vehicle light assembly includes a light source arranged within the light chamber, and the light source is substantially oriented to emanate light that initially strikes the substantially reflective surface, propagates within the chamber along the isotropically luminant surfaces, and exits the chamber through the lens.

In a dimmable trim component for a vehicle interior, a trim article includes a reflective member having a photoreactive or an electro-optic coating disposed over the reflective member. The reflective member is configured to reflect ambient light. The coating is a bistable coating and is operable between a first light transmissive state and a second light transmissive state. When in the first light transmissive state, ambient light is transmitted to the reflective member for reflection by the reflective member through the coating. When in the second light transmissive state, a portion of the ambient light is absorbed by the coating and therefore, not reflected by the reflective member, such that the coating provides a dimming effect to the trim article in high ambient conditions.

A video display system includes a light source configured to generate light and a substrate having a plurality of pixels deposited on a first side of the substrate. Each of the pixels is formed from a plurality of photo-luminescent dyes, and the light source is configured to project light onto the first side of the substrate to illuminate at least a subset of the photo-luminescent dyes in a raster pattern to generate an image. In another embodiment omitting the substrate, the photo-luminescent dyes forming the pixels are deposited directly onto a screen.

A vehicular LED assembly is provided that includes a plurality of vehicular LED modules, each comprising: a lens with a canted input surface and an exit surface; a bezel surrounding the lens; and an LED light source positioned to direct incident light through the input surface. The input surface comprises a plurality of near-field lens elements for shaping the incident light into a collimated light pattern emanating from the exit surface. Further, the plurality of optical elements may be configured in a step-wise pattern defined by a sweep angle.

A proximity switch assembly is provided and includes a proximity sensor comprising a first electrode comprising first fingers and a second electrode comprising second fingers, wherein the first and second fingers are interdigitated with a varying density and a variable spacing therebetween along a first direction. The proximity switch assembly also includes control circuitry processing a signal in response to a user activation of the proximity sensor and determining sliding activation of the sensor in the first direction. The switch assembly may determine a tap, stable press and sliding activations.

A light guide is provided that includes a light chamber defined by isotropically luminant top, bottom, and back surfaces, and a front surface having a translucent lens. The light guide also includes a reflective diaphragm within the chamber that defines a top gap between the diaphragm and the top surface, and a bottom gap between the diaphragm and the bottom surface. The light guide further includes an LED light source located between the diaphragm and the back surface of the chamber. The light guide may also be configured with a front surface having a partially transmissive lens and no reflective diaphragm. A vehicle lighting assembly is also provided that includes a plurality of interconnected light chamber sections comprising light guides.
