A high capacity anode material comprising pre-lithiated α-MoOnanostructures is provided. A lithium sulfur full cell, battery, or pouch cell comprising the anode material and methods of fabricating the same are also provided.

Lithium molybdate anode material

The present development is a process to produce commodity chemicals such as methanol and syngas using an integrated plasma catalysis technology. The method comprises providing a fixed or fluidized bed reactor having a microwave plasma flame and a catalyst bed with a catalyst, wherein the catalyst is an alloyed bimetallic nanowire. In the process, the plasma flame fluidizes the catalyst thereby producing a more effective catalyst than the non-fluidized catalyst. It is anticipated that the reactor can have a throughput capacity of up to 30 Lpm/kW and can be effective for the conversion of CO, CH, air, water, and combinations thereof, through reactions such as pure COsplitting, reverse water gas shift (RWGS) for CO production, methanol synthesis, and plasma reforming of methane, thereby making a system that would be attractive for small GTL units.

Plasma assisted distributed chemical production

Provided herein are methods of performing liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) of III-V compounds and alloys at low pressures using pulsed nitrogen plasma to form an epitaxial layer e.g. on a substrate. The pulse sequence of plasma (with on and off time scales) enables LPE but avoids crust formation on top of molten metal. The concentration of nitrogen inside the molten metal is controlled to limit spontaneous nucleation.

Liquid phase epitaxy of III-V materials and alloys

The present development is a method for capturing and purifying COfrom a flue gas stream using a metal aluminate nanowire absorbent and then regenerating the absorbent. After the COis adsorbed into the absorbent, the adsorbent is regenerated by subjecting the COsaturated adsorbent to a dielectric barrier discharge plasma or to a microwave plasma or to a radio frequency (RF) plasma while ensuring that the external temperature does not exceed 200&#xb0; C.

CO2 sorbent materials for advanced carbon capture technologies and dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma based processes

The present development is a method for the selective conversion of furfural to 2-methylfuran (2-MF) using a catalyst comprising non-toxic and non-noble metals and wherein the method requires relatively mild processing conditions. The catalyst comprises copper metal particles, used alone or in combination with cobalt, nickel, manganese, ruthenium, gallium, zinc, aluminum or a combination thereof, on a nanowire support. The catalyst is stable in liquid phase reactions and in the presence of water. The present development also includes a process for producing the catalyst.

Catalyst compositions for conversion of furfural to 2-methylfuran and their applications

The present development is a metal particle coated nanowire catalyst for use in the hydrodesulfurization of fuels and a process for the production of the catalyst. The catalyst comprises titanium(IV) oxide nanowires wherein the nanowires are produced by exposure of a TiO&#x2014;KOH paste to microwave radiation. Metal particles selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, nickel, cobalt, tungsten, or a combination thereof, are impregnated on the metal oxide nanowire surface. The metal impregnated nanowires are sulfided to produce catalytically-active metal particles on the surface of the nanowires The catalysts of the present invention are intended for use in the removal of thiophenic sulfur from liquid fuels through a hydrodesulfurization (HDS) process in a fixed bed reactor. The presence of nanowires improves the HDS activity and reduces the sintering effect, therefore, the sulfur removal efficiency increases.

Nanowire-based hydrodesulfurization catalysts for hydrocarbon fuels

The present invention relates to the use of adsorbents comprising zinc oxide nanowires decorated with catalytically active metal particles for the removal of sulfur from hydrocarbon feedstocks, including the desulfurization of diesel fuels and the deep desulfurization of natural gas, and to the use of decorated zinc oxide nanowire adsorbents for the hydrogenation of naphthalene selectively to tetralin in the presence of sulfur compounds. The adsorbent comprises nickel metal particles or nickel-zinc alloy particles deposited on zinc oxide nanowires.

Desulfurization and sulfur tolerant hydrogenation processes of hydrocarbon feedstocks

The present development is a process for the preparation of nanowire synthesis, coatings and uses thereof. Lithium titanate (LTO) nanowires are synthesized using a continuous hydrocarbon/plasma flame process technology combined with the dry impregnation method. The resulting LTO nanowires can be used as electro active anode materials for lithium ion batteries. The coating parameters, such as thickness, porosity of the film, packing density, and viscosity are controlled using the length of the nanowires, calendaring pressure, and slurry composition.

Spinel lithium titanium oxide (LTO) nanowire anode material for lithium ion batteries

Electrocatalysts of formula A,BO, wherein A=a metal with an acid-stable oxide and B=a platinum-group-metal (PGM), are provided, as are methods of making the electrocatalysts via rapid plasma oxidation, methods of using the electrocatalysts to catalyze e.g. oxygen evolution reactions (OERs), and devices comprising the electrocatalysts.

Electrocatalytic materials for oxygen evolution of formula ABO

The present development is a reactor system for the production of nanostructures. The reactor system comprises a conical reactor body designed to maintain an upwardly directed vertical plasma flame and hydrocarbon flame. The reactor system further includes a metal powder feed that feeds into the plasma flame, a cyclone and a dust removal unit. The system is designed to produce up to 100 grams of metal oxide nanomaterials per minute.

Flame based fluidized bed reactor for nanomaterials production

A method for the rapid and controlled synthesis of mixed metal oxide nanoparticles using relatively low temperature plasma oxidation of liquid droplets of predetermined mixed metal precursors is disclosed. The resulting nanoparticles reflect the metal precursor stoichiometries and the mixed metal oxide's metastable phase can be controlled. The synthesis of mixed transition metal oxide comprising binary metal oxides, ternary mixed metal oxides, quaternary mixed metal oxides and pentanary mixed metal oxides are demonstrated herein.

Production of mixed metal oxide nanostructured compounds

The present development is a catalyst composition, comprising zinc oxide nanowires having one or more catalytically-active metal particles attached to a surface of the zinc oxide nanowires. The catalytically-active metal particles are comprised of a metal selected from the group consisting of nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, tungsten, copper, and platinum. The present development further discloses a method to prepare the catalyst composition, and use of the catalyst composition for desulfurization.

Catalyst composition and methods for desulfurization

The composition of matter comprising Ga(Sb)Nwhere x=0.01 to 0.06 is characterized by a band gap between 2.4 and 1.7 eV. A semiconductor device includes a semiconductor layer of that composition. A photoelectric cell includes that semiconductor device.
