Topical pharmaceutical compositions, containing clindamycin phosphate, a zinc fatty acid salt, such as zinc acetate, and a non-aqueous vehicle, are disclosed. The compositions provide antibiotic performance and are present as physically stable, aesthetically-pleasing, clear, ringing gels, without requiring the use of conventional gelling agents. The method of topically treating clindamycin responsive dermatoses, such as acne, using these compositions is also disclosed.

Gel-form topical antibiotic compositions

Topical pharmaceutical compositions containing a corticosteroid component and a penetration-enhancing vehicle are disclosed. The vehicle comprises a binary combination of a C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 diol and a 'cell-envelope disordering compound'. The vehicle provides marked transepidermal and percutaneous delivery of corticosteroids. A method of treating certain rheumatic and inflammatory conditions, systemically or locally, is also disclosed.

Penetrating topical pharmaceutical compositions containing

Stable compositions, useful as technetium-99m-based scintigraphic agents, comprise gentisic acid or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt or ester thereof in combination with a pertechnetate reducing agent or dissolved in pertechnetate-99m (.sup.99m TcO.sub.4.sup.-) solution. The compositions are especially useful in combination with a phosphate or phosphonate material which carries the radionuclide to bone, thus providing a skeletal imaging agent.

Gentisic acid salts as radiographic scanning agent stabilizers

Stable compositions, useful as technetium-99m-based imaging agents, comprise reductic acid or certain structurally-related compounds in combination with a pertechnetate reductant or dissolved in pertechnetate-99m solution. The compositions are especially useful, in combination with a phosphate or phosphonate bone-targeting carrier, for skeletal imaging.

Stable radiographic imaging agents

Topical antimicrobial compositions in the form of an aqueous gel or lotion are disclosed; these compositions contain C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 fatty acids and have a pH no greater than about 5. The compositions provide excellent broad-spectrum antimicrobial performance and, in fact, are more effective than similar compositions formulated as creams, ointments, non-aqueous lotions or non-aqueous gels. The method of treating skin disorders of pathogenic origin using these compositions is also disclosed.

Topical antimicrobial composition

Topical antimicrobial anti-inflammatory compositions, having a pH no greater than about 5, containing C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 fatty acids together with a corticosteroid component, are disclosed. The method of topically treating inflammatory skin conditions using these compositions is also disclosed.
