An electronic device, method, and computer program product provide automated dynamic format of screen shot capture, based on display size and information density. The electronic device renders an electronic page of visual content into a plurality of screens of visual content and communicates one screen to a display for presentation. The electronic device determines a number of screens required to sequentially present an entirety of the electronic page of visual content via a display and determines an amount of readable information contained in each of the number of screens of the electronic page. The electronic device determines transition rate(s) required to legibly present each portion of the readable information presented in each screen in transitioning between two of the plurality of screens and generates a dynamic screen shot image comprising at least one image with automated transitions at the at least one transition rate for each corresponding transition.

An electronic device includes a memory storing a plurality of fingerprint reference data files and one or more sensors identifying whether a mechanical support condition of the electronic device is a hand supported condition or a surface supported condition. A fingerprint sensor receives fingerprint data while the electronic device is in the mechanical support condition. One or more processors select a prioritized fingerprint data reference file from the plurality of fingerprint reference data files as a function of the mechanical support condition and authenticate an authorized user of the electronic device by comparing the fingerprint data to the prioritized fingerprint data reference file before comparing the fingerprint data to any other fingerprint reference data files of the plurality of fingerprint reference data files. The prioritized fingerprint reference data file can also be selected as a function of a geometric form factor of the electronic device.

Electronic devices and corresponding methods for enrolling fingerprint data and unlocking an electronic device

An electronic device includes a memory storing a plurality of fingerprint reference data files. One or more sensors identify whether a mechanical support condition of the electronic device is a hand supported condition or a surface supported condition. A fingerprint sensor receives fingerprint data. One or more processors select a prioritized fingerprint data reference file from the plurality of fingerprint reference data files as a function of the mechanical support condition and authenticate an authorized user of the electronic device by comparing the fingerprint data to the prioritized fingerprint data reference file before comparing the fingerprint data to another fingerprint reference data file of the plurality of fingerprint reference data files. The fingerprint sensor can be situated on a minor surface of the electronic device, on a rear major surface in a central location, on the rear major surface in an edge location, or in other locations.

One or more sensors of an electronic device detect a geometric form factor of the electronic device. A fingerprint sensor situated beneath a first display of the electronic device receives fingerprint data. One or more processors authenticate an authorized user of the electronic device using the fingerprint data with one or more processors. The one or more processors select between the first display and a second display of the electronic device as a function of the geometric form factor and unlock the selected display in response to authenticating the authorized user of the electronic device.

A method in an electronic device comprises detecting, with one or more sensors, a geometry or geometric form factor of the electronic device. One or more processors then enable, in response to detecting the geometric form factor, a dual content presentation mode of operation allowing presentation of first content on a first display of the electronic device and second content on a second display where the first content and the second content are different.

An electronic device, method, and computer program product provide automated static or dynamic format selection of screen shot capture responsive to display size. An application, executed by a processor of the electronic device, presents, via a display, at least a portion of an electronic page. In response to receiving an input, via at least one input device of the electronic device, to capture a screen shot of the display, a controller of the electronic device determines a number of screens required to present an entirety of the electronic page. In response to the number of screens being equal to or less than a first threshold number of screens, the controller generates a static screen shot image of the electronic page. In response to the number of screens being greater, the controller generates a dynamic screen shot image that automatically scrolls or page flips through the entirety of the electronic page.

A method in an electronic device comprises detecting, with one or more sensors, a geometry or geometric form factor defined by an amount a first device housing or first device housing portion of the electronic device is pivoted about a hinge or deformable portion relative to a second device housing or second device housing portion of the electronic device, as well as also detecting, with one or more other sensors, multiple persons within an environment of the electronic device. One or more processors then enable, in response to detecting the geometric form factor and the multiple persons within the environment, a dual content presentation mode of operation allowing presentation of first content on a first display of the electronic device and second content on a second display where the first content and the second content are different.
