A golf club head includes a metal head body and a face plate made of fiber reinforced resin and fitted to a recess formed in a face portion of the metal head body. A support pin is inserted into the main body from a back portion thereof, threadingly engaged with the face plate and prevented from being exposed on a hitting surface of the face plate. A back portion of the head body is formed with a concave whose outer configuration is substantially the same as that of the face plate. The concave is located at a position of the back portion corresponding to a position of the face plate on the face portion. A central recess is further formed in the back portion within the concave depending on a position of a sweet spot. A flexible member is attached to the central recess. It is possible to reliably prevent the accidental separation of the face plate from the head body, and the damage and/or breakage of the face plate due to the difference in stiffness between the face plate and the metal head body.

Golf club head

A golf club head made of a metallic material includes a projection which is rearwardly projected away from a face portion of a main body while forming a cavity having the substantially same interior configuration as the exterior configuration of the projection. A face member molded of a synthetic resin and having a fully closed air chamber formed therein is securely fitted into the cavity using an adhesive. A ball hitting surface of the face member is flush with the surface of the face portion. A thickness of the face member between the ball hitting surface and the air chamber is larger than a thickness of the same on the back portion side about three times.

Gold club head

The present invention relates to a golf club having a hollow head and to a golf club head die to cast such a hollow golf club head. The golf club head of this invention has a hollowly formed head and a golf club shaft which is inserted through this hollow part. Further, in the golf club head die of the present invention, a shaft hole pin is arranged through the insert core, and its one end is inserted into the positioning hole formed in one of divided die members. Still further, in the golf club head die of this invention, after casting of the head body, the insert core piece at the center is removed through the opening in the sole and the other insert core pieces around it are moved to the position of this removed insert core piece to be removed through the opening.

Die for golf club head

An iron golf club head comprising a base metal body having a sole portion which latter is continuous with a hosel portion at the heel end of said sole portion. A weight setting block is provided spacedly above said base metal body and being supported in such position by a plurality of spaced apart support members. A vertical space is disposed between the weight setting block and the hosel portion. A step is formed on said base for receiving the base portion of a fiber-reinforced synthetic resin body encasingly covering said support member and thereby conducing to the security of said synthetic resin material in operative position. A fiber-reinforced synthetic resin layer is also provided on the outer surface of the hosel and at the outer surface of the weight setting block. The weight setting block support members may be of various configurations and of relative dimensions.

Iron club head

A golf head body made as a casting of plastic or metal has a large cavity. A sole plate is attached to close the cavity. The parts are carefully finished by grinding and polishing prior to injection of foamable plastic. The cavity has a special configuration to provide fill holes that are independent of the sole plate. The mechanical strength of the club and installed shaft is not compromised; the foamable plastic, injected after finishing, is not affected by any heat generated by the finishing of the sole plate.

A golf club head is hollowed out to provide desired light weight characteristics. A tubular reinforcement material formed of plastic including reinforcement fibers, separate from the club head itself, is inserted into the cavity attached at the inner walls of the face and back, so as to span between them to prevent deformation of the head face and to hold the stiffness and mechanical strength required at its impact face.

A golf club driver head made from a plastic such as nylon is provided with a sole plate covering a cavity of a predetermined size and depth including a blind bore devoid of any weighting material extending from the inner end of the cavity towards the toe whereby the mass of the head is distributed for dynamic balance.
