A plastic forming mold made from a stainless steel, having in weight % (wt. %): C 0.32-0.50, Si 0.1-1.0, Mn 0.1-0.8, Cr 11-14, Mo 1.8-2.6, V 0.35-0.70, N 0.05-0.19, optional elements, and a balance of Fe apart from impurities. The stainless steel is hardened and tempered and has a matrix comprising ≥90 vol. % martensite.

Stainless steel

The invention relates to a stainless steel intended for cutting tool bodies or holders for cutting tools and a cutting tool body made of the stainless steel. The stainless steel includes the following, in weight %: C 0.14-0.25, N 0.06-0.15, Si 0.7-1.2, Mn 0.3-1.0, Cr 12-15, Ni 0.3-0.8, Mo 0.05-0.4, V 0.05-0.4, Al 0.001-0.3, and optional components and balance Fe apart from impurities.

The invention relates to an alloy produced by powder metallurgy and having a non-amorphous matrix, the alloy consists of in weight % (wt. %): C 0-2.5 Si 0-2.5 Mn 0-15 Cr 0-25 Mo 4-35 B 0.2-2.8 optional elements, balance Fe and/or Ni apart from impurities, wherein the alloy comprises 3-35 volume % hard phase particles, the hard phase particles comprises at least one of borides, nitrides, carbides and/or combinations thereof, at least 90% of the hard phase particles have a size of less than 5 &#x3bc;m and at least 50% of the hard phase particles have a size in the range of 0.3-3 &#x3bc;m.

Wear resistant alloy

The invention relates cold work tool steel. The steel includes the following main components (in wt. %): C 2.2-2.4, Si 0.1-0.55, Mn 0.2-0.8, Cr 4.1-5.1, Mo 3.1-4.5, V 7.2-8.5, balance optional elements, iron and impurities.

A steel alloy suitable for holders and holder details for plastic molding tools contains in weight-%: 0.06-0.15 C, 0.07-0.22 N, wherein the total amount of C+N shall satisfy the condition, 0.16&#x2266;C+N&#x2266;0.26, 0.1-1.0 Si, 0.1-2.0 Mn, 12.5-14.5 Cr, 0.8-2.5 Ni, 0.1 1.5 Mo, optionally vanadium up to max. 0.7 V, optionally, in order to improve the machinability of the steel, one or more of the elements S, Ca and O in amounts up to max. 0.25 S, max. 0.01 (100 ppm) Ca, max. 0.01 (100 ppm) O, balance iron and unavoidable impurities.

A cold work steel has the following chemical composition in weight-%: 1.25-1.75% (C+N), however at least 0.5% C 0.1-1.5% Si 0.1-1.5% Mn 4.0-5.5% Cr 2.5-4.5% (Mo+W/2), however max. 0.5% W 3.0-4.5% (V+Nb/2), however max. 0.5% Nb max 0.3% S balance iron and unavoidable impurities, and a microstructure which in the hardened and tempered condition of the steel contains 6-13 vol-% of vanadium-rich MX-carbides, -nitrides and/or carbonitrides which are evenly distributed in the matrix of the steel, where X is carbon and/or nitrogen, at least 90 vol-% of said carbides, nitrides and/or carbonitrides having an equivalent diameter, D, which is smaller than 3.0 &#x3bc;m; and totally max. 1 vol-% of other, possibly existing carbides, nitrides or carbonitrides.
