A method performed by a user equipment. The method is for providing first information to a network node. The user equipment and the network node operate in a wireless communications network. The user equipment sends a first indication to the network node. The first indication indicates whether or not first information is being provided. The first information comprises at least one of: a) a quality report on a carrier used between the network node and the user equipment, and b) second information on subsequent transmissions from the user equipment to the network node or from the network node to the user equipment. The first indication is comprised in a payload of a Medium Access Control control element.

User equipment, network node, and methods performed thereby, for handling first information

A method is disclosed to operate a wireless device configured for communication with a wireless network using first and second sets of cells. The first set of cells is associated with a first inactivity timer duration, the second set of cells is associated with a second inactivity timer duration, and the first and second inactivity timer durations are different. A scheduling grant is received for a cell of the second set of cells using a cell of the first set of cells. Responsive to receiving the scheduling grant, the cell of the first set of cells is monitored for subsequent grants for the cell of the second set of cells for a period following the scheduling grant defined by the first inactivity timer duration or defined by the second inactivity timer duration. Related wireless devices are also discussed.

Methods scheduling for dual-DRX and related wireless devices

A method performed by a wireless device for cell identifier (Cell-ID) selection, includes attempting a radio resource control (RRC) connection action. A designated Cell-ID is selected from a plurality of Cell IDs in a system information block (SIB). An identifier is determined based on the designated Cell-ID. The identifier is transmitted to a network node as part of the RRC connection action.

Cell ID selection in multi cell ID scenarios

A method, UE, and computer programs are provided where the UE has multiple universal subscriber identity modules. Information is received from a first PLMN indicating there is one of mobile terminating (MT) signaling or data in the first PLMN while the UE is in a second PLMN. Responsive to receiving the information, a service request is sent to an AMF node of the second PLMN. A radio resource control (RRC) connection release is received from a RAN node in response to sending the service request. Responsive to receiving the RRC connection release, the second PLMN is left to be in the first PLMN.

A wireless device performs a method for updating a stored configuration. While in a power saving state, the wireless device monitors a paging channel. When the wireless device receives a paging message on the paging channel, it determines whether the paging channel includes a message relating to updating a stored configuration of the wireless device. If the paging channel includes a message relating to updating the stored configuration of the wireless device, the wireless device performs actions determined by said message.

Release, suspend and reconfiguration in paging

A wireless device performs a method for resuming a Radio Resource Control, RRC, connection. While in a power saving state, the wireless device monitors a paging 5channel. When the wireless device receives a paging message on the paging channel, it determines whether the paging channel includes a message enabling the wireless device to resume the RRC connection. If the paging channel includes a message enabling the wireless device to resume the RRC connection, the wireless device performs actions determined by said message.

Systems and methods are disclosed herein related simultaneous registration of wireless communication device having multiple Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) with two or more networks. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device having multiple SIMs comprises registering with a first network associated with a first SIM and registering with a second network associated with a second SIM such that the wireless communication device is simultaneously registered with both the first network and the second network. The method further comprises providing, to a network node associated with the first network, capability information for the wireless communication device that indicates less than full capabilities of the wireless communication device. In this manner, the wireless communication device ensures that it will have sufficient resources to maintain simultaneous connections to both the first and second network.

Multi-SIM dynamic capabilities

Embodiments include methods for a network node of a 3GPP RAN. Such methods include determining a configuration that enables a UE to steer the UE's traffic between the 3GPP RAN and a WLAN without receiving a traffic steering command from the 3GPP RAN. The configuration includes a forward traffic steering configuration comprising a first plurality of thresholds/conditions for which the UE, when connected to 3GPP RAN, can initiate steering at least some of the UE's traffic from 3GPP RAN to WLAN; and a backward traffic steering configuration comprising a second plurality of thresholds/conditions for which the UE, when connected to WLAN, can initiate steering at least some of the UE's traffic from WLAN to 3GPP RAN. The backward traffic steering configuration includes threshold(s)/condition(s) based on different values of a same parameter as threshold(s)/condition(s) of the forward traffic steering configuration. The configuration is sent to the UE in a single message.

Traffic steering from a first access network to a second access network

A method performed by a wireless device includes receiving a Radio Resources Control Reject (RRCReject) message and determining whether to act on the RRCReject message based on a configuration of the wireless device. The method may also include receiving a configuration message that includes the configuration from a network node.

Handling radio resource control rejections

A wireless device receives a downlink message from a network node. The wireless device descrambles or decrypts the downlink message, or one or more fields of the downlink message, to obtain one or more parameters. The wireless device uses the one or more parameters to perform at least one action from any one or more of the following actions: receiving a mobile-terminated, MT, early data transmission, EDT, during a random access procedure; positively or negatively acknowledging the MT-EDT; and receiving a re-transmission of the MT-EDT.

The present invention relates to methods and apparatuses (radio base station) and UE for enabling a UE to perform a random access. According to embodiments of the present invention, an identification number of a dedicated random access preamble is, in a message, transmitted together with information indicating in which channel or channels the preamble is valid for the UE. The UE can then use the received information and based on that information perform a random access.

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

A method in a target network node and a corresponding network node, for performing secure Mobile Terminated (MT) early data transmission (EDT) is provided. The method may comprise: sending a paging message to the wireless device, which has been suspended from a connection with a second network node, the paging message comprising an early data transmission (EDT) indication; receiving a random access preamble from the wireless device; obtaining context information of the wireless device; and resuming a data connection with the wireless device based on the context information.

Methods for handling context information for mobile-terminated early data transmission

Systems and methods relating to resuming a suspended connection of a wireless device in a wireless system are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a wireless device includes receiving, from a wireless network, a first message that indicates to suspend a connection between the wireless device and the wireless network. Responsive to receiving the first message, the wireless devices stores a wireless device context and enters a suspended mode of operation. Upon an occurrence of a triggering event, the wireless device transmits, to the wireless network, a second message that requests to resume the connection between the wireless device and the wireless network, wherein the second message includes a resume identifier having an identifier of a network node and an identifier of the wireless device. The wireless device receives, from the wireless network, a contention resolution identity Medium Access Control (MAC) control element that includes a portion of the second message.

A method and apparatus according to the present invention addresses and/or prevents lost protocol synchronization in HARQ systems caused by ACK/NACK errors. One embodiment detects lost synchronization errors for NDI-based retransmission protocols and restores synchronization by sending an explicit RESET message. In response to the RESET message, the transmitter aborts the transmission of a current PDU and transmits a new PDU and corresponding NDI. Another embodiment prevents protocol synchronization errors by sending scheduling grants on a packet by packet basis. The receiver sends a subsequent explicit scheduling grant to the transmitter based on an error evaluation of a received PDU. The transmitter will not send the next PDU unless it receives the subsequent explicit scheduling grant.
