A microwave transmission arrangement, comprising an electrically conductive hollow waveguide having a first waveguide portion, a second waveguide portion between the first waveguide portion and a first end of the hollow waveguide, and a conductive transition surface of the hollow waveguide forming a transition between the first waveguide portion and the second waveguide portion; and a microwave circuit board including a dielectric carrier, and a first conductor pattern on a first side of the dielectric carrier, the first conductor pattern including a patch for radiating or receiving microwave signals in the predefined wavelength range, and a first ground plane surrounding the patch, wherein the first ground plane of the microwave circuit board is in conductive contact with the first end of the hollow waveguide, and extends into the second waveguide portion cross-section area to define at least one conductive pocket together with the second waveguide portion and the transition surface of the hollow waveguide.

A radar level gauge system, comprising a transceiver; an antenna for radiating an electromagnetic transmit signal from the transceiver towards a surface of the product and for returning an electromagnetic reflection signal back towards the transceiver; a feed-through connecting the transceiver and the antenna; and processing circuitry coupled to the transceiver for determining the filling level based on a relation between the transmit signal and the reflection signal, wherein the feed-through comprises a waveguide arranged between the transceiver and the antenna to receive the transmit signal from the transceiver and guide the transmit signal towards the antenna in a guiding direction, the waveguide comprising an elongated plug arranged in a hollow conductor extending in the guiding direction, wherein the plug comprises a non-conductive sleeve member and a metallic plug member, the non-conductive sleeve member being sealingly joined to a portion of the hollow conductor and to the metallic plug member.

Radar level gauge system with improved feed-through

A radar level gauge system, comprising a transceiver; an antenna arrangement configured to transmit an electromagnetic transmit signal from the transceiver, and to return an electromagnetic reflection signal resulting from reflection of the transmit signal at a surface of the product back towards the transceiver; and processing circuitry. The antenna arrangement comprises: a dielectric antenna body having a transmit signal receiving surface to receive the transmit signal from the transceiver, a convex transmit signal emitting surface configured to direct the transmit signal towards the product following passage of the transmit signal through the dielectric antenna body, and a side surface connecting the transmit signal receiving surface and the transmit signal emitting surface; and an electrically conductive antenna housing covering at least a portion of the side surface of the dielectric antenna body. The dielectric antenna body is arranged to conductively separate the transceiver from the conductive antenna housing.

A radar level gauge including a wave guiding structure and a cavity formed inside the wave guiding structure, and a dielectric filling member arranged at least partly within said cavity. The dielectric filling member includes a main body formed of a polymer material, at least one microwave absorbing element formed of a modified polymer material providing a microwave attenuation of at least 1 dB/centimeter at an operating frequency of the radar level gauge, the modified polymer material being obtained by modifying said polymer material with a filler material, wherein the at least one microwave absorbing element is integrally formed with said main body by sintering.

Radar level gauge system with single propagation mode feed-through

A radar level gauge using comprising a transceiver, processing circuitry, a signal propagating device, and a wave guide arrangement connecting the transceiver with the signal propagation device. The wave guide arrangement includes a hollow wave guide, a first filling member made of a first dielectric material, which first filling member is arranged inside the hollow wave guide, and a second filling member made of a second dielectric material, which second filling member is arranged inside the hollow wave guide outside the first filling member with respect to the tank. The second filling member is fixed in the wave guide at least in a direction out from the tank, and is configured to withstand temperatures up to 250 degrees Celsius. During conditions of temperatures sufficiently high to soften the inner filling member, the outer filling member will thus serve to prevent the first filling member from being forced out of the wave guide.

High temperature, high pressure (HTHP) radar level gauge

A radar level gauge system comprising a transceiver for generating, transmitting and receiving electromagnetic signals; an antenna arranged to direct transmitted electromagnetic signals towards a surface of the product contained in the tank, and to return reflected electromagnetic signals resulting from reflections at impedance transitions encountered by the transmitted electromagnetic signals back to the transceiver; and a hollow waveguide connecting the transceiver and the antenna for guiding the electromagnetic signals therebetween. The radar level gauge system further comprises a leak indication member being movably arranged inside the hollow waveguide in such a way that a force resulting from leakage of the fluid at the sealing member causes a movement of the leak indication member which causes a change in at least one microwave propagation characteristic of the hollow waveguide.

The present invention relates to a radar level measuring device for non-contact measurement of a level of a product in a container. The device comprises a flange which is mounted on the container in such a way that a lead-through of the flange at least partly covers an opening in the container. The device further comprises a waveguide part, insertable into the flange. When inserted, the insertable waveguide part is arranged to come to a stop at a distance (D) from the surface of the flange intended to face the container, along which distance (D), a waveguide is formed, forming a continuous waveguide together with the insertable waveguide part when inserted.

There is provided a radar level gauge using microwaves for measuring a level of a surface of a product in a tank, comprising an antenna for transmitting microwaves to the surface and receiving microwaves reflected by the surface, a measurement circuitry feeding said antenna through a hollow wave guide and said wave guide including at least an antenna wave guide member, at one end couplable to the antenna and at its other end having an opening in an intersection across the wave guide, wherein the radar level gauge further comprises: a dielectric barrier extending along said intersection across the opening of said antenna wave guide member for non-conductively separating said antenna wave guide member from the measurement circuitry, said dielectric barrier having a first side facing the wave guide in a direction towards the antenna wave guide member and said dielectric barrier having a second side facing a direction substantially away from said antenna wave guide member.

Method and an apparatus for insulation of a radar level gauge

The present invention relate to a horn antenna at a radar level gauge for determination of a level of a surface of a medium stored in a tank and a method of making a horn antenna which is mechanically constituted such that the horn antenna will withstand the environment of the tank interior. The antenna comprises a first conductive housing () having a wave guide port (), which is connectable to a wave guide, a first aperture (), which is separated from the wave guide port () and a fist divergent section between the wave guide port () and the first aperture (). A dielectric body () is arranged inside and essentially filling the first conductive housing (), which body () displays a free end () in the area of the first aperture (). The horn antenna is characterized in that around the first aperture () is arranged a locking device (), which is arranged to fix the dielectric body () in the first housing () and that in the area of the locking device () is arranged at least one flexible sealing element () between the dielectric body () and the first cover ().

Horn antenna

A horn antenna for transmitting microwaves. A conical horn includes a small opening and a large opening. A transition piece includes a tapering portion and a non-tapering portion. The transition piece is arranged in the conical horn between a waveguide and an environment that the horn antenna is arranged in. A transition between the tapering portion and the non-tapering portion is arranged between the small opening and the large opening of the conical horn. The non-tapering portion engages the small opening of the conical horn.
