A device for transport of ions and/or charged molecules between a source and a target electrolyte, comprising: a first electrode provided at or in said source electrolyte, and a second electrode provided at or in said target electrolyte; and wherein said first and second electrodes provides an electrical control of an ion flow, and further comprising means for limiting an electronic current between said source and said target electrodes, such that at least after a voltage is applied a potential difference between said source and target electrodes is maintained, which effects ion transport from said source to said target electrode; wherein the device further comprises an ion- and/or permselective polyelectrolyte for transport ions and/or charged molecules via electrophoresis and functions as an ion-selective membrane; and wherein said polyelectrolyte comprises a cross-linked hyperbranched polymer.

The present invention provides thermoelectric device comprising a first electrode, a second electrode, a first electrolyte composition capable of transporting cations, a second electrolyte composition capable of transporting anions and a connector comprising mobile cations and mobile anions, wherein the first electrolyte composition is connected to said first electrode by being in ionic contact and the second electrolyte composition is connected to said second electrode by being in ionic contact and said connector is in ionic contact with said first and said second electrolyte composition, such that an applied temperature difference over said electrolyte compositions or an applied voltage over said electrodes facilitate transport of ions to and/or from said electrodes via said electrolyte compositions. There is also provided a method for generating electric current and a method for generating a temperature difference.

Thermoelectric device

A device for electrically controlled of ions, comprises a first electrolyte; a first electrode, which is arranged in direct or indirect contact with the first electrolyte, an encapsulation; and an ion conductor, which is arranged to receive and/or deliver ions from/to the first electrolyte. The encapsulation is arranged to effectively enclose the first electrolyte, and the ion conductor is arranged to transport ions from/to an outside of the encapsulation.

A ferroelectric field-effect transistor device includes: a semiconductor layer; a ferroelectric layer; and an ion conductor layer arranged between the semiconductor layer and the ferroelectric layer and in contact with the semiconductor layer. Methods for producing the ferroelectric field-effect transistor device and using the ferroelectric field-effect transistor device in non-volatile memory devices that reduce a readout voltage to a voltage as low as 0.2 V are also disclosed.

Ferroelectric field-effect transistor

A device for controlled transport of ions is provided comprising an ion source element and an ion target element both conducting ions of a first class e.g. cations, and an ion selective element which conducts ions of a second class e.g. anions. The device further comprises a transport element, which receives ions from the ion source element and releases them to the ion target element in response to an electrochemical potential difference provided across the ion transport element. In use a first electrochemical potential is applied to the control element, which increases the concentration of ions of said second class, which increased concentration in turn increases the ion transport rate of ions of said first class in the ion transport element.

Selective ion transport device

An embodiment of the present invention relates to electrochemical devices including an electrochemically active layer having the ability of electrochemically altering its redox state. By providing a portion of an electrode of corrosion resistant material between an electrolyte and an electrochemically active layer, undesired discoloration due to the electrochemical reaction of an electrochemical device is reduced.

Electrochemical device

The present invention relates to a wettability switch that comprises an electrochemically active element having a wetting surface with switchable wetting properties. The electrochemically active element comprises an electrochemically active polymer, and surface active molecules each having a lyophobic portion and a lyophilic portion. In the wettability switch, each of said surface active molecules exposes one of said lyophobic portion and said lyophilic portion towards said wetting surface, and the identity of said portion depends on an electrochemical state of said polymer.

Wettability switch

A moisture sensor, for measuring moisture in a building without leaving visible scars to the building surface, is provided. The moisture sensor includes a flexible carrier carrying an antenna for receiving EM-radiation between 9 kHz and 11 MHz and a resonant circuit including a moisture reactive element. The moisture reactive element includes a hygroscopic electrolyte arranged between a first and a second electrode, wherein the electrolyte in the presence of moisture forms mobile ions and provides a complex impedance at least in response to the alternating voltage, which complex impedance varies with the moisture content of the electrolyte.

Moisture sensor

A device is disclosed for electrically controlled transport of ions between a source and a target electrolyte, including a source electrode and a target electrode. The electrodes are each capable of conducting ions, and the source electrode is arranged to receive ions from the source electrolyte and the target electrode is arranged to release ions to the target electrolyte. The device further includes an ion-conductive channel, arranged to receive ions from the source electrode and to release ions to the target electrode. Moreover, the ion-conductive channel is arranged to provide an ionic connection between the source and the target electrodes. The electrodes and the ion-conductive channel are formed of solid or semi-solid materials which are directly or indirectly attached to a support. In at least one embodiment, the device also includes a device for limiting an electronic current between the source and the target electrodes, such that at least after a voltage is applied across the channel a potential difference between the source and target electrodes is maintained, which potential difference effects ion transport from said source to the target electrode. An apparatus for transporting ions to or from a cell, use of the device for transporting ions to or from a cell, and methods of operating the device are also disclosed.

A process for rendering an electrically conducting polymer essentially non-conducting is provided, in which the polymer is brought into direct electrical contact with an electrolyte. Furthermore, an electric voltage is applied to the polymer using at least two electrodes connected to a voltage supply, each electrode independently being in electrical contact with one of the polymer and the electrolyte. The electrically conducting polymer is rendered non-conducting through electrochemical reactions occurring in the interface between the polymer and the electrolyte in response to the electric voltage.

Process relating to polymers

A device for determining a parameter history indication of at least one external parameter includes, in at least one embodiment, a first electrode portion, in consuming contact with a first electrolyte, and a second electrode portion, in consuming contact with a second electrolyte. A consumption process of the second electrode portion, in at least one embodiment, is controllable by an amount of consumption of said first electrode portion. The electrolytes are so arranged that consumption rates of the first electrode portion and the second electrode portion present different dependencies on the at least one external parameter. Transistor with large ion-complexes in electrolyte layer

The present invention provides an electrochemical timer device () having a source () and a drain () contact. The device further comprises a switch channel () and a delay reservoir () that are electrochemically interconnected with a gate electrode (). The switch channel () interconnects the source () and drain () contacts and is arranged to change electrical conductivity upon electrochemistry therein, and an electrochemical reaction is arranged to occur in the gate electrode () and delay reservoir () upon application of a drive voltage there between. The delay reservoir () is arranged such that the electrochemical reaction occurring therein gradually moves towards the switch channel () and eventually reaches the switch channel () after a delay time thereby changing the electrical conductivity of the switch channel ().

An electrochemical device is provided, comprising a source contact connected to a first antenna pad, a drain contact connected to a second antenna pad, at least one gate electrode, an electrochemically active element arranged between, and in direct electrical contact with, the source and drain contacts, which electrochemically active element comprises a transistor channel and is of a material comprising an organic material having the ability of electrochemically altering its conductivity through change of redox state thereof, and a solidified electrolyte in direct electrical contact with the electrochemically active element and said at least one gate electrode and interposed between them in such a way that electron flow between the electrochemically active element and said gate electrode(s) is prevented. In the device, flow of electrons between source contact and drain contact is controllable by means of a voltage applied to the gate electrode(s).
