An example method includes accessing, from a media device, a first identifier and a search term at a first server, the first identifier corresponding to at least one of the media device or a user of the media device, the search term associated with a search request, generating a second identifier based on the first identifier, sending the second identifier and the search term from the first server to a data collection server to facilitate the data collection server to logging the search request, and receiving user information associated with the search request from a database proprietor based on the second identifier.

An example media device disclosed herein includes processor circuitry to execute instructions to: detect a first code embedded in a video stream of media presented by the media device, the first code to reference first audience measurement data to identify the media; after detection of the first code, provide a prompt to request input of second audience measurement data; and cause transmission of at least one of the first audience measurement data or the second audience measurement data to a remote data processing facility.

A disclosed example includes memory; instructions in the apparatus; and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to: monitor for a mobile device communication at a merchant location; obtain a first identifier from the mobile device communication obtained at a first server in response to identifying the mobile device communication during the monitoring; store the first identifier in association with the merchant location in a database; and in response to determining that the first identifier is present in the database, send an association between the first identifier and the merchant location to a second server of an audience measurement entity, the first identifier included in a second communication from the second server of the audience measurement entity.

An example apparatus includes at least one memory, first instructions in the apparatus, and processor circuitry to execute the first instructions. The first instructions, when executed, are to: instruct a media provider to include second instructions in an application to create an instrumented application and receive data from a media device based on the media device executing the second instructions. The second instructions, when executed, are to cause the media device to: access configuration information to instruct the instrumented application on the media device to operate in at least one of a first mode or a second mode, the second mode different from the first mode; access a media identifier corresponding to a media presentation event when monitoring functionality is enabled on the instrumented application; determine a second identifier to identify at least one of the media device or a user of the media device when the monitoring functionality is enabled, the second identifier assigned by a first entity when the instrumented application is to operate in the first mode, the second identifier assigned by a second entity when the instrumented application is to operate in the second mode, the first entity separate from the second entity; and send the media identifier in association with the second identifier to the second entity when the monitoring functionality is enabled.

Methods and apparatus to associate transactions with media impressions are disclosed. An example method includes transmitting a request for commercial transaction information to a database proprietor, the request including an identifier corresponding to a media impression associated with media presented via a computing device; receiving the commercial transaction information in response to the request, the commercial transaction information comprising data associated with a commercial transaction conducted using an account accessed by the computing device; and associating the media impression with the commercial transaction.

Methods and apparatus to associate transactions with media impressions

Disclosed examples include accessing impression data collected at a media device by a collector installed with an application, the impression data including a first identifier, a second identifier, and a media identifier, the first identifier to identify at least one of the media device or a user of the media device to a first database proprietor, and the second identifier to identify the at least one of the media device or the user of the media device to a second database proprietor, the collector to obtain the first and second identifiers from a memory of the media device; requesting first demographic information from the first database proprietor based on the first identifier and second demographic information from the second database proprietor based on the second identifier; and storing at least some of the first or second demographic information in association with the media identifier in a data store.

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to monitor media are disclosed. An example method includes installing a monitoring enabled application on a media device. Configuration information to instruct the monitoring enabled application to enable monitoring functionality is accessed. A media presentation event is identified within the monitoring enabled application. A media identifier corresponding to the media presentation event when the monitoring functionality is enabled is determined. At least one of a user identifier or a device identifier associated with the media device is determined when the monitoring functionality is enabled. A record is transmitted including the media identifier and the at least one of the user identifier or the device identifier to the audience measurement entity when the monitoring functionality is enabled.

Methods and apparatus to measure audience composition and recruit audience measurement panelists are disclosed. An example media device disclosed herein includes means for analyzing a video stream of media being presented by the media device, the means for analyzing to detect a first code embedded in the video stream, the first code referencing first audience measurement data to identify the media. The method further includes means for modifying a media output to: after detection of the first code, provide a request for an audience member to join an audience measurement panel; and, after receipt of a response to the request, cause the media device to present a second code, the second code including information that, when the second code is scanned with a portable device other than the media device, is to direct the portable device to a website to provide additional audience measurement data.

A disclosed example includes an identifier extractor to: extract a first identifier from mobile device communications at a merchant location; and store the first identifier in a database associated with the merchant location; a communications interface to: monitor for the mobile device communications, the identifier extractor to extract the first identifier in response to the communications interface identifying the mobile device communications during the monitoring; receive a request including the first identifier from an audience measurement entity; and when the first identifier is present in the database, send an association between the first identifier and the merchant location to the audience measurement entity; and a collection interface to determine whether the first identifier is present in the database.
