A processing system is provided. The processing system includes a master system and a processing resource. The master system is designed to execute a service component and a system controller component. The processing resource is designed to register with the service component for a specific period of time. By registering with the look up service of the service component, the processing resource advertises the eligibility of the processing resource to execute a software processing job having a set of requirements. The system controller component is designed to search the look up service of the service component to locate the processing resource having a set of attributes that substantially matches the set of requirements of the software processing job.

Distributed processing framework system

A method for automatically maintaining a database that stores coverage data for testing software code under development is provided. The method includes providing modified instrumented software and using test cases of a test suite to execute the modified instrumented software. Modified coverage data that includes a call tree defining a path of each test case is created. The method also includes replacing the coverage data with the modified coverage data at scheduled intervals.

Software development test case maintenance

An intelligent test system for testing software code is provided. The intelligent system includes a profiled software component, a test executor, a database, a database updater, and a data analyzer/optimizer. The test executor creates a coverage data by using the profiled software component to execute a plurality of test cases of a test suite. The database stores the coverage data and the database updater is configured to store the coverage data into the database. The data analyzer/optimizer analyzes the coverage data contained in the database to find test cases affected by a modification to the software code. The data analyzer/optimizer also optimizes the test cases affected by the modification by selecting fewer test cases that satisfy a criteria. The test executor uses the test cases that satisfy the criteria to test the modification to the software code.

A method for analyzing test coverage of a software application is provided. The method includes profiling an executable of the software application to generate application call trees. The method also includes profiling test cases used to test a production Java VM so as to generate test case call trees. Also included is comparing the application call trees with the test case call trees so as to identify gaps in the application call tree not covered by the test case call trees.

A method for advertising an availability of a processing resource to execute a process is provided. The method includes enabling a registry service and the processing resource to register with the registry service. The processing resource is configured to be one of numbers of network interconnected resources. Also included in the method is enabling a system controller code to find and select a suitable and available processing resource registered with the registry service to execute the process. The system controller code is configured to be executed on a computer that is networked with the number of interconnected resources. The method further includes enabling the system controller code to communicate with a selected processing resource and updating a status of the processing resource in the registry service upon a termination of executing the process.
