An electronic device displays a user interface including a slider control that represents a continuous range of values between a first value and a second value, the slider control includes a first end that corresponds to the first value and a second end that corresponds to the second value, and the slider control further includes a movable indicator configured to move along the slider control between the first and the second end. The device detects a contact on the slider control followed by a movement of the contact. In response to the movement detection, the device moves the moveable indicator along the slider control and generates a tactile output upon the moveable indicator reaching the first end of the slider control with a tactile output pattern configured based on a movement speed when the moveable indicator reaches the first end.

Devices, methods, and graphical user interfaces for providing haptic feedback

In some embodiments, an electronic device enhances a two-dimensional drawing. In some embodiments, an electronic device manipulates an object in a three-dimensional environment. In some embodiments, an electronic device displays a contextual menu or moving an object in a three-dimensional environment. In some embodiments, an electronic device moves an object in a three-dimensional environment by an amount based on the distance of the object from the user. In some embodiments, an electronic device scans a real world object. In some embodiments, an electronic device manipulates a distant object.

Methods for manipulating objects in an environment

An electronic device with a first off-display input region detects a first portion of an input on the input region. In response to the first portion of the input: when the first portion of the input meets first criteria without a characteristic intensity of the first input increasing above a first intensity threshold, the electronic device provides a first output that indicates a current state of a first attribute of the electronic device without altering the first attribute. The electronic device detects a second portion of the input. In response to the second portion of the input: if the second portion of the first input meets second criteria that require the characteristic intensity of the input increases above the first intensity threshold, the electronic device performs a first operation that alters the first attribute of the electronic device; and otherwise, the electronic device forgoes performing the first operation.

Devices, methods, and graphical user interfaces for interaction with an intensity-sensitive input region

In some embodiments, an electronic device displays and allows user interaction with content on multiple displays. In some embodiments, an electronic device displays three-dimensional content using coordinated views on multiple displays. In some embodiments, an electronic device shares content while displaying a video conferencing user interface. In some embodiments, an electronic device facilitates the display or keeping private of content on multiple displays. In some embodiments, an electronic device facilitates the display of information from applications using a shared graphical input coordinate space. User interfaces for devices with multiple displays

A finger-mounted device may include finger-mounted units. The finger-mounted units may each have a body that serves as a support structure for components such as force sensors, accelerometers, and other sensors and for haptic output devices. The body may have sidewall portions coupled by a portion that rests adjacent to a user's fingernail. The body may be formed from deformable material such as metal or may be formed from adjustable structures such as sliding body portions that are coupled to each other using magnetic attraction, springs, or other structures. The body of each finger-mounted unit may have a U-shaped cross-sectional profile that leaves the finger pad of each finger exposed when the body is coupled to a fingertip of a user's finger. Control circuitry may gather finger press input, lateral finger movement input, and finger tap input using the sensors and may provide haptic output using the haptic output device.

Systems and methods are disclosed defining haptic patterns that include both haptic events and audio events, and optionally include video or animation. The haptic patterns can be called from an application or included as an attachment to a message and played on an electronic device that receives the message. A haptics application programming interface has a haptic experience mapping functionality that generates a same, or similar, haptic experience on different manufacturers or models of electronic devices having different haptic hardware. Haptic patterns can include synchronized haptic and audio events. Haptic event attributes include start time, sharpness, and intensity. Sharpness and/or intensity can be controlled via a parameter envelope for a single event, or for multiple events in a haptic pattern. Sharpness indicates a quality of the tactile sensation of a haptic event, from smooth or rounded, to sharp or precise.

An electronic device displaying a user interface on a display. While displaying the user interface on the display and while one or more tactile output generators of the electronic device are in a low-power state, the electronic device detects a first user interaction via the touch-sensitive surface. In response to detecting the first user interaction, the electronic device sets the one or more tactile output generators to a low-latency state. After setting the one or more tactile output generators to the low-latency state, the electronic device detects a second user interaction that is continuation of a touch input, on the touch sensitive surface, that includes the first user interaction. In response to detecting the second user interaction, the electronic device generates a tactile output that corresponds to the second user interaction.

Devices, methods, and graphical user interfaces for generating tactile outputs

In accordance with some embodiments, a method is performed at an electronic device with a display, an input region that is distinct from the display, and one or more tactile output generators for generating tactile outputs. The method includes: detecting a press input on the input region with a finger; and in response to detecting the press input on the input region: in accordance with a determination that the input region is not separated from the finger by an interstitial material, generating a first tactile output; and in accordance with a determination that the input region is separated from the finger by a first interstitial material, generating a second tactile output that is different from the first tactile output.

An electronic device with a touch-sensitive surface, a display, and tactile output generator(s) displays an item navigation user interface that includes: a representation of a portion of items arranged into groups that are represented by corresponding index values and a first portion of the items includes a first group of the items that corresponds to a first index value in the index values; and an index navigation element that includes representations of three or more of the index values. While displaying the item navigation user interface, the device further detects a drag gesture on the touch-sensitive surface including movement from a first location corresponding to the representation of the first index value to a second location corresponding to a representation of a second index value. In response, the device generates a tactile output and switches from displaying the first portion to the second portion of the items.

A system may include finger devices. A touch sensor may be mounted in a finger device housing to gather input from an external object as the object moves along an exterior surface of the housing. The touch sensor may include capacitive sensor electrodes. Sensors such as force sensors, ultrasonic sensors, inertial measurement units, optical sensors, and other components may be used in gathering finger input from a user. Finger input from a user may be used to manipulate virtual objects in a mixed reality or virtual reality environment while a haptic output device in a finger device provides associated haptic output. A user may interact with real-world objects while computer-generated content is overlaid over some or all of the objects. Object rotations and other movements may be converted into input for a mixed reality or virtual reality system using force measurements or other sensors measurements made with the finger devices.

Computer systems with finger devices

An electronic device detects, on a touch-sensitive surface, a user input directed to a user interface element associated with a respective operation, for example in a user interface for a locked mode of operation of the device. A first portion of the user input includes an increase in intensity of the contact followed by a second portion of the user input that includes a decrease in intensity of the contact. In response to the user input, the device displays a transformation of the user interface element, wherein a degree of the transformation is determined based on an intensity of the user input. If the user input satisfies feed-forward criteria, including a requirement that a characteristic intensity of the contact increase above a feed-forward intensity threshold, the device generates a first tactile output without performing the respective operation. Otherwise, the device generates a second tactile output and performs the respective operation.

Tactile feedback for locked device user interfaces

An electronic device receives, at an application-independent module, user interface information from an application. The user interface information corresponds to one or more displayed user interface elements with one or more dimensions defined by an application-specific module of the application. The electronic device receives an input directed toward one or more of the displayed user interface elements, and, at the application-independent module, determines one or more tactile outputs to be generated based on a magnitude of the input and the one or more dimensions defined by the applications-specific module. Using the one or more tactile output generators, the electronic device generates the determined one or more tactile outputs.

A control device for an interactive computing system includes a first elongated member, a second elongated member, and a biasing actuator. The first elongated member and the second elongated member are pivotably coupled at a pivot axis. The biasing actuator is coupled to the first elongated member and the second elongated member to provide an output torque between the first elongated member and the second elongated member about the pivot axis. The control device is configured to receive user input for controlling a virtual device displayed by the interactive computing system to visually resemble a physical device. The biasing actuator is controllable to provide tactile feedback to simulate physical behavior of the physical device. The control device is movable freely in space.
