This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for high efficiency (HE) beacons. HE supported access points (APs) and stations (STAs) may operate on resource deployments used for Wi-Fi technology and without support for legacy devices, also referred to as a greenfield deployment. An AP may identify updated capability information and transmit a HE physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) including a beacon frame. A STA may receive, from the AP, the HE or EHT PPDU and identify an indication of change to a content or format of the beacon frame relative to a reference beacon frame. Based on the identified indication, the STA may then determine an updated content or format for the beacon frame and process the beacon frame or skip processing for one or more portions of the beacon frame.

High efficiency signaling

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless device may perform a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure for a narrowband communication that provides time and frequency synchronization and/or scheduling information for an ultra-wideband (UWB) communication. The wireless device may transmit the narrowband communication in response to the LBT procedure being successful. The wireless device may transmit the UWB communication based at least in part on the time and frequency synchronization and/or scheduling information. Numerous other aspects are described.

Narrowband communication for ultra-wideband communication

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for clear channel assessment (CCA) enabled narrowband (NB) communications. In some implementations, a device is configured to associate with an NB channel (such as a Bluetooth channel), perform a CCA to assess whether the NB channel is clear, and transmit on the NB channel when clear. If the NB channel is not clear, the device may prevent transmitting on the NB channel. The device may prevent avoiding the NB channel after the first time that the NB channel is not clear. If the NB channel remains not clear (such as over a number of CCAs for the NB channel), the device may avoid the NB channel by removing the NB channel for FH for an amount of time. In some implementations, the device may be configured to perform frame based equipment (FBE) CCAs for one or more NB channels.

Clear channel assessment (CCA) enabled narrowband (NB) communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device that uses a first radio access technology (RAT) may identify a transmission timing scheme for a shared radio frequency spectrum band, the transmission timing scheme comprising a first set of time intervals allocated for transmissions using a first RAT and a second set of time intervals allocated for transmissions using a second RAT. The wireless device may transmit, during a time interval of the first set of time intervals, a channel reservation signal indicating an end time of the time interval and indicating that the wireless device uses the first RAT. The wireless device may transmit, based at least in part on the transmitted channel reservation signal, over the shared radio frequency spectrum band during at least a portion of the time interval before the end time of the time interval.

Techniques to synchronize radio access technologies for co-channel operation

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for sharing resources of a wireless medium. Various implementations relate generally to coordinated transmit power control for sharing time and frequency resources of a wireless medium. Particular implementations relate more specifically to coordinated access point spatial-reuse-multiple-access techniques for sharing the time and frequency resources of a transmission opportunity. According to such techniques, an access point that wins contention and gains access to the wireless medium for the duration of a transmission opportunity may limit the transmit powers of the access points selected to share the time and frequency resources such that interference from the selected access points does not prevent stations associated with the winning access point from successfully decoding packets transmitted by it.

Coordinated access point spatial reuse

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for providing energy detection based resolution in radio access technologies. In one aspect, a wireless communication device may include a first energy detection threshold (EDT) to identify a transmission opportunity in an unlicensed frequency band. The wireless communication device may detect a second wireless communication device having a second EDT to identify the transmission opportunity, the second EDT being greater than the first EDT. The wireless communication device may, based on detection of the second wireless communication device having the second EDT, modify a transmission configuration of the first wireless communication device.

Contention-based channel access based on different channel access requirements

Wireless communications systems and methods related to channel access contention management in a shared radio frequency band are provided. A first wireless communication device performs, during a first time period, a first clear channel assessment (CCA) in a shared radio frequency band based on a first energy detection threshold, wherein performing the first CCA comprises obtaining at least one signal energy measurement. The first wireless communication device then performs, during a second time period subsequent to the first time period, a second CCA in the shared radio frequency band based on a second energy detection threshold, the second energy detection threshold being based on the at least one signal energy measurement. The wireless communication device then transmits, to a second wireless communication device in the shared radio frequency band based on the second CCA, a communication signal.

Channel access with conditional variable energy detection thresholds in shared frequency bands

Technology-specific listen before talk (LBT) parameter adjustments are disclosed for common energy detection (ED) thresholds. Some of the technologies sharing access to the same shared communication spectrum include additional access deferral procedures. Such technologies may be configured with additional compensating features to increase the likelihood of fairness in spectrum access across all technologies sharing a common ED threshold. Such additional compensating features may include a reduced contention window size relative to the technologies that do not include such additional access deferral procedures, increased maximum channel occupancy times (COTs) for longer transmissions, and the like. Each such additional compensating feature may be available under different circumstances, such as always available or available in response to the node activating one of the additional access deferral procedures. Additionally, such additional compensating features may, once initiated, be active and available for a predetermined period of time.

Technology-specific listen before talk parameter adjustments for common energy detection thresholds

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for synchronizing an end of an exchange of frames during a transmission opportunity (TXOP) with a target synchronization time using a synchronization short inter-frame space (SynSIFS) before a transmission by a wireless communication device that controls the medium. The wireless communication device obtains control of the medium for the TXOP by completing a CCA procedure. An exchange of frames during the TXOP includes transmissions from the wireless communication device and responses from other devices while the wireless communication device controls the medium. A duration of the SynSIFS may be adjustable at a microsecond granularity. Accordingly, the wireless communication device may select a duration of the SynSIFS that allows alignment of the end of the exchange with the target synchronization time. The wireless communication device also may adjust a number of symbols in the transmission from the wireless communication device.

Synchronization short inter-frame space (SIFS)

Adaptive energy detection (ED) threshold medium access is discussed based on deployment and traffic type. The network nodes sharing a shared communication network are configured with multiple discrete ED thresholds or a range of ED values. As a transmitting node prepares to attempt access to the shared communication spectrum, it identifies an access trigger condition within the network. Such a condition may include traffic type, deployment, or access conditions. In response to detecting an access trigger condition, the transmitting node may select an ED threshold associated with the access trigger condition. Alternatively, upon detection of the access trigger condition, the transmitting node may implement a random ED threshold from the candidate range of ED threshold values.

Adaptive energy detection threshold medium access based on deployment and traffic type

Indication of globally synchronous communications mode is disclosed. A first node may detect an indication signal transmitted by a second node at a synchronization boundary of a shared communication channel. The indication signal is configured to identify a first transmission synchronization mode of the second node. The first node may then adjust its communications configuration in response to the indication signal. In making such adjustments, the first node may either contend for communications on the shared communication channel using the first transmission synchronization mode or refrain from attempting the communications on the shared communication channel using a second transmission synchronization mode.

Indication of globally synchronous communications mode

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for sharing time resources of a wireless medium. Particular implementations relate more specifically to coordinated AP (CAP) time-division-multiple-access (TDMA) techniques for sharing the time resources of a transmission opportunity (TXOP). According to such techniques, a coordinated AP that wins contention and gains access to the wireless medium for the duration of a TXOP may share its time resources with other coordinated APs. To share its time resources, the winning AP may partition the TXOP into multiple TXOP segments each including respective time resources representing a sub-duration of the TXOP. For example, the winning AP may assign, grant or allocate (hereinafter used interchangeably) itself one or more of the time resources and also allocate each of one or more remaining time resources to one or more other ones of the coordinated APs.
