A detection system for detecting fluorescence lifetime includes an excitation light source configured for repeatedly generating pulsed excitation light, and a detector. The detector has a single-photon detection circuit; a pulse-inhibit circuit for rejecting detected photons that occur outside each one of a series of measurement time windows, each subsequent measurement time window starting after a subsequent excitation light pulse has stopped, and stopping before a next excitation light pulse is generated, each measurement time window having a measurement window period; and a switched-capacitor circuit having an input terminal for receiving a voltage ramp signal that is restarted with each new measurement window period. The switched-capacitor circuit is configured for repetitively computing an average voltage. The switched-capacitor circuit has a node for outputting the computed average voltage as a measure of the fluorescence lifetime.

Circuit and method for fluorescence lifetime imaging

A mixer comprises a substrate of a first conductivity type; at least one minority carrier injector for injecting minority carriers in the substrate in reply to a first electrical signal applied to the at least one minority carrier injector; at least two substrate taps located in the substrate for providing a majority carrier current density with associated electric field in the substrate in reply to a second electrical signal applied to the at least two substrate taps. The majority carrier current density's associated electric field determines the drift direction of the injected minority carriers. The mixer further comprises at least two minority carrier collectors located in the substrate, for collecting minority carriers from the substrate. Each minority carrier collector is located adjacent to one of the at least two substrate taps. A minority carrier collector destination is determined by the drift direction of the injected minority carriers, and current outputted by the minority carrier collectors based on the number of minority carriers collected at the collector destination, form an output signal of the mixer.

Electronic mixer

Systems, methods and devices for diagnosing signal integrity of a communication channel are disclosed, as well as related systems, methods, and devices. A method includes receiving an input signal from a transmission line of the communication channel and performing an autogain function on the input signal to generate a regulated output signal with a pre-determined voltage amplitude. The method also includes adding a disturbance signal to the regulated output signal to generate a summation output. The method also includes digitizing the summation output and analyzing the digitized summation output to determine an error level.

Signal integrity diagnostics for communication channels

Driver circuitry including an inductor configured to be used both as an inductor of a buck converter and to provide high-speed pulse driving of a load. The driver circuitry includes the buck converter, which includes a first switch, a second switch and a comparator configured to drive the first switch and the second switch. The inductor is connected between the first switch and the second switch of the buck converter and the load and supplies current to drive the load.

An adaptive mode has been added in a common mode (CM) dimmer circuit to increase output current capability only when needed. Without having an adaptive mode in the CM dimmer, the output current drivers must operate with large quiescent current to handle a bulk current injection (BCI) event. Therefore, a CM dimmer without the adaptive mode will consume a significant amount of power even when there is no BCI event occurring. With the adaptive mode, the CM dimmer can be used effectively to suppress the BCI event, e.g., in a transformer-less physical layer (PHY) connection, while consuming minimal power during normal circuit operation.

Adaptive common mode dimmer

An active transceiver circuit for transmission of a low bitrate data signal over and reception of a high bitrate data signal from a single ended transmission medium is provided. The active transceiver circuit includes an input port for receiving a low bitrate input data signal, an output port for delivering a high bitrate output data signal, a differential input/output port for launching a low bitrate data signal into the single ended transmission medium and for receiving a high bitrate data signal from the single ended transmission medium, a first and second single ended output driver adapted for each delivering, on their respective output nodes, the shaped low bitrate input data signal, and a high bitrate receiver for receiving the signals at output nodes of the first and second single ended output drivers, and for generating a high bitrate output data signal on the output port.

Data communication having improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) rejection when communicating through a coaxial cable is provided by using differential transmission and/or reception through a common-mode choke and a dissipative element resulting in extremely low radiated emissions and high immunity to external radiation interference in a low-cost way.

Coaxial data communication with reduced EMI

An electronic driver circuit for LEDs and LASERs is provided for use in time-of-flight applications featuring a high efficiency of energy-conversion and a high precision of distance-measurements based on a dual conversion circuit. A voltage to voltage DC-DC conversion is hereby merged with a DC-voltage to pulsed-current booster, this booster operating at a time-of-flight modulation frequency. At the start of a new measurement cycle, the PWM signal for driving the DC-DC conversion is updated in response to currents observed during previous illumination periods.

Driver circuit for LEDs for time-of-flight calculation

The present invention relates to a color and non-visible light e.g. IR sensor, namely a multispectral sensor which can be used in a camera such as a TOF camera for depth measurement, reflectance measurement and color measurement, and for generation of 3D image data or 3D images as well as the camera itself and methods of operating the same.

Multispectral sensor

A demodulation sensor () is described for detecting and demodulating a modulated radiation field impinging on a substrate (). The sensor comprises the means () for generating, in the substrate, a static majority current assisted drift (Edrift) field, at least one gate structure () for collecting and accumulating minority carriers (), the minority carriers generated in the substrate by the impinging radiation () field. The at least one gate structure comprises at least two regions () for the collection and accumulation of the minority carriers () and at least one gate () adapted for inducing a lateral electric drift field under the gate structure, the system thus being adapted for directing the minority carriers () towards one of the at least two regions () under influence of the static majority current assisted drift field and the lateral electric drift field induced by the at least one gate, and a means for reading out the accumulated minority carriers in that region.

Method and system for demodulating signals

Impinging electromagnetic radiation generates pairs of majority and minority carriers in a substrate. A spectrometer device for detection of electromagnetic radiation impinging on a substrate comprises means for generating, in the substrate, a majority carrier current; at least one detection region for collecting generated minority carriers, the minority carriers being directed under influence of the majority carrier current; and means for determining spectral information based on minority carriers collected at the at least one detection region.

Photospectrometer

A method for measuring time of flight of radiation includes emitting modulated radiation () in response to a first modulation signal, projecting the modulated radiation () onto a scene (), and receiving radiation, the received radiation including at least modulated radiation reflected by the scene (). The received radiation () is converted into a radiation induced electrical signal. The radiation induced electrical signal is mixed with a second modulation signal, thus generating a mixed signal, which is integrated, thus generating an integrated signal. When the integrated signal exceeds a threshold value (V), charge is injected into the integrated signal. The method includes applying changes to the first and/or second modulation signal at one or more moments in time, and measuring the integrated signal at one or more moments in time, thus obtaining at least one TOF pair difference signal (). The measuring includes using a single detector node () and associated memory element (), to obtain a TOF pair difference signal (). The method furthermore includes using one or more TOF pair difference signals to determine time of flight of radiation.
