A system architecture for a backup thrust reverser actuation system control is provided. The system architecture includes an AC power supply of an aircraft, a power supply and a motor control adapted to control an electric motor (M) of a thrust reverser actuation system. The system architecture further includes a backup power supply adapted to provide power to the electric motor in the event that the power supply fails.

Back-up thrust reverser actuation system control

A power inverter topology for converting a DC input to one or more phases of AC output, and methods for operating the same. The power inverter includes a switching circuit, an input circuit and a freewheeling diode bridge arrangement. The switching circuit comprises switch arms extending between the upper and lower branches of the switching circuit. The input circuit includes upper and lower isolating switches that can be selectively operated to respectively isolate the upper and/or lower branches of the switching circuit.

System architecture for operation of aircraft flaps

A method for monitoring the health of a brake plate having a solenoid with a solenoid air gap includes creating a reference solenoid current profile for the brake plate solenoid air gap, by: calculating a nominal solenoid current profile based on the air gap under nominal conditions, calculating a upper and lower limit of the nominal solenoid current profile, based on an impact of at least one external variation and/or tolerance of the brake plate, and creating the reference solenoid current profile by combining said upper and lower limits into the nominal solenoid current profile. The method also includes generating and measuring a solenoid current curve of the brake plate and determining if said generated curve of the brake plate is between said upper and lower limits to determine that the brake plate is healthy.

There is provided an electric motor comprising a rotor, a stator and a motor controller. The stator comprises a substantially cylindrical body, a plurality of teeth extending from the substantially cylindrical body in a radial direction, one or more first sets of electrical windings that are wound around said teeth and configured to drive the rotor, and one or more second sets of electrical windings electrically separate from the first set of electrical windings. The second set of electrical windings on the stator are electrically connected to the motor controller such that energy produced by the electric motor during a regenerative mode of operation in use is diverted to the second set of electrical windings on the stator for dissipating the energy produced in the regenerative mode.

An electric motor comprising: a stator; a rotor having a magnet mounted thereto; an electric circuit comprising a plurality of phases or windings for driving rotation of a rotor, in a drive mode; and a controller configured to control the electric circuit, in a motor braking mode, to short at least one of said phases or windings such that the magnet is able to generate a braking current in the shorted phase or winding wherein the motor is configured to operate at a rated current in the drive mode and to have a reactance such that the amplitude of the braking current is the same or lower than the amplitude of the rated current.

Electric motor

An electric motor and a method of making the electric motor is disclosed herein. The motor comprises a stator and a rotor being arranged coaxially, with said rotor provided internally of said stator. The stator having one or more stator teeth extending radially inwardly towards said rotor. The rotor has a plurality of magnets forming an outer rotor surface. A first face of the or each stator tooth faces the outer rotor surface. An electrically-conductive non-magnetic damper bar is partially embedded in the or each stator tooth, the or each damper bar having an outer damper bar surface. A groove is formed in the first face of the or each stator tooth to at least partially expose the outer damper bar surface. The groove can improve flux linkage between the rotor and the damper bars and thus improve the damping of the electric motor.

The invention provides a stator for an electric motor comprising a plurality of radially inwardly extending teeth and comprising conductive material incorporated in one or more of the teeth.

Electromechanical actuator damping

A motor drive circuit comprising two or more inverters to provide current to a permanent magnet motor. Each inverter includes a respective switch arm comprising one or more switches for each phase of the motor to be driven. The motor drive circuit includes means for detecting a switch short circuit for any switch within one of the inverters and means for determining the speed of the motor. The motor drive circuit further includes a controller configured to short circuit each switch arm of the inverter containing the switch short circuit if the motor speed exceeds a predetermined threshold, but not if the motor speed does not exceed the predetermined threshold.

A device for monitoring a solenoid plunger position, comprising means for storing one or more inductance values for the solenoid indicative of desired positions of the solenoid plunger; means for measuring an actual inductance value of the solenoid; means for comparing the actual inductance value and the stored inductance values and for providing an indication of the actual position of the solenoid plunger based on the comparison.
