A method of preventing a deformable container from deforming when it contains a solution, which solution contains a dissolved gas or a species which under storage conditions is capable of generating a gaseous species is disclosed. The method is to provide a headspace in the container which headspace is enriched in the gaseous species which the solution is prone to give up to the atmosphere in the absence of such enrichment.

Reduction or prevention of container deformation due to solutions contained therein

A pool buffer composition comprising about 90 to 91% by weight sodium bicarbonate; about 6.5% to about 7.5% by weight sodium carbonate; and at least one binder and/or clarifier. The composition is preferably in granular of compressed tablet form and is most advantageously used in the pool water filtration system slightly upstream of the introduction point of a chlorine pool treatment product introduction point. The product is especially advantageously used substantially simultaneously with the introduction of the chlorine pool treatment product.

Pool buffering composition and method of use

Chemically leavened baking compositions, i.e., batters and doughs, intended for the production of no fat or reduced fat bakery products which comprise flour; no more than about 15 wt. % of the unbaked composition of shortening; a total water content such that the water activity of the unbaked composition (a.sub.W) at room temperature is in the range of about 0.70 to about 0.95; and as a leavening agent, sodium bicarbonate (SBC) having a particle size distribution such that about 15 to about 50 wt. % of the particles have a particle size less than about 105 microns (U.S. Mesh Size 140) and about 30 to about 65 wt. % of the particles have a particle size greater than about 149 microns (U.S. Mesh Size 100). Preferably the composition also contains at least one fat replacer, the total fat replacer being in an amount of at least about 0.10 wt. % of the unbaked composition.

Composition for no fat of reduced fat bakery products

This invention provides a novel fungicide composition which has a bicarbonate-containing inorganic salt ingredient which enhances the efficacy of a fungicide ingredient for the treatment of cultivated crops. An invention fungicide composition also contains a surfactant ingredient, and a water-soluble organic compound which functions as a compatibility enhancing ingredient in aqueous formulations, and the ingredients improve the spreadability and adhesiveness of the composition when applied to foliage. An invention fungicide composition also contains a fertilizer-effective ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

This invention provides a novel aqueous pesticide formulation having a fungicidal bicarbonate-containing inorganic salt ingredient which enhances the efficacy of an insecticidal ingredient for treatment of cultivated crops. An invention pesticide formulation also contains a water-soluble organic compound which functions as a compatibility enhancing ingredient in the aqueous pesticide formulation, and improves the spreadability and adhesiveness of the composition ingredients when applied to foliage.

This invention provides a dietary fatty acid salt product in granulated form which optionally contains one or more additional nutrient or medicament ingredients. The dietary product can function as a rumen bypass animal feed supplement, and permit a beneficial increase in the nutrient fat content of the feed. An important aspect of the invention is the encapsulation of the granules with a polymeric coating which functions as an impermeable barrier to one or more volatile organic compounds contained in the core matrix.

This invention provides alkali metal bicarbonate powder consisting of a narrow size distribution range of ultrafine particles. The ultrafine powder has a large surface area, and provides enhanced reactivity in applications such as deodorization or neutralization, and exhibits increased antibacterial/antifungal activity. The ultrafine powder also has an exceptional capability to form a homogenous solid-phase suspension in a liquid medium which has long term stability.

This invention provides a process for producing a particulate potassium bicarbonate composition which maintains its free-flow properties when stored under ambient temperature and relative humidity conditions. In the process, particulate potassium bicarbonate is blended with fine grain alkaline earth metal oxide, and the oxide is microdispersed on the surface of the particles. The oxide reacts with moisture and carbon dioxide to form an adherent physically-bonded coating of alkaline earth metal carbonate on the surface of the potassium bicarbonate particles. The altered particle surface prevents agglomeration of the potassium bicarbonate particles.

The aqueous cleaning compositions contain an alkaline salt, an alkali metal silicate to boost detersive action or to provide corrosion protection to the substrates which are cleaned and an anionic polymer of a high molecular weight polyacrylic acid which stabilizes the alkali metal silicate to prevent precipitation of the silicate from solution.

This invention provides a powder composition which is composed of particles consisting of a hydrophilic polymer coating having an encapsulated core matrix content of at least two microcrystallites of water-soluble inorganic compound such as sodium bicarbonate. The particles of an invention powder can have a narrowly uniform particle size distribution between about 5-30 microns. In one embodiment a present invention powder composition has a content of hydrophilic polymer-coated bicarbonate microcrystallites, and a cosmetically safe anti-caking agent such as talc, and has utility as a baby powder product. In another embodiment a present invention powder composition is a suspension phase in a cosmetic stick, roll-on or cream product.

Blended fungicide compositions

This invention provides a co-micronized bicarbonate salt composition which is a blend of ingredients having a particle size between about 0.01-1.0 micron. The composition is produced by mill co-micronization of a crystalline bicarbonate ingredient and a crystalline inorganic compound ingredient having a Mohs hardness value between about 3-7. A co-micronized blend such as sodium bicarbonate and zinc oxide is free-flowing and essentially free of agglomerated particles.
