A server on a network controls a database which functions as an 'asset manager' for a large population of items or assets. For 'network' assets which are capable of electronically communicating data about themselves, such as computers and digital printers, relevant data is gathered over the network and entered into the database. For &#x201c;non-network&#x201d; assets which are not capable of electronic communication, such as typewriters and furniture, information is gathered into the database by other means. Within the database, the distinction between network and non-network assets is largely hidden.

In a network comprising printers and print servers which retain queues of print jobs, a user is able to survey and view selected portions of the network, either by enumerating printers to be queried directly, or by enumerating servers. By providing substantially simultaneous 'views' of printers and queues in servers, problems within a large network can be readily isolated.

A document processing system is provided in which a first document processing related device, having a set of document processing related settings or settings, is disposed remotely of a second document processing related device on a network. A browser is used to get an electronic page for the first document processing related device and information regarding a location of the second document processing on the network is written in the electronic page with the browser. The electronic page with the written information is posted to the first document processing related device and a server provides the electronic page with a subset of the set of document processing related settings or settings. The browser then submits the electronic page with the subset of the set of document processing related settings to the second document processing related device for programming the second document processing related device with the subset of the set of document processing related settings.

Debounce and lockout filters include an input part for receiving a plurality of input signals from switches, a microprocessor and an output part. The filters simultaneously process a plurality of input binary signals in parallel according to a sequence of mask values which individually adjust the filter response function for each of the individual filter channels. A multichannel filter has a filter simultaneously filtering each input signal of a plurality of input signals, the filter including a plurality of independent filter channels, each independent filter channel filtering a corresponding input signal of the plurality of input signals to produce a corresponding output signal of a plurality of output signals. The multichannel filter also has a mechanism for independently adjusting a filter response time of each independent filter channel.
