A dental appliance for positioning a patient's teeth includes a polymeric shell with a plurality of cavities for receiving one or more teeth. The polymeric shell includes at least 3 alternating polymeric layers AB, wherein layer A includes a thermoplastic polymer A, layer B includes a thermoplastic polymer B, and the thermoplastic polymer B is different from the thermoplastic polymer A. Each of the thermoplastic polymers A and B have a flexural modulus of about 1.0 GPa to about 4.0 GPa; and each of the thermoplastic polymers A and B have a glass transition temperature (T) greater than about 40° C.

A transparent energy dissipation layer is fixed to the transparent glass layer. The transparent energy dissipation layer has a glass transition temperature of 27 degrees Celsius or less, a Tan Delta peak value of 0.5 or greater, or from 1 to 2 and a Young's Modulus (E') greater than 0.9 MPa over a temperature range of &#x2212;40 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius. In a preferred embodiment, the transparent energy dissipation layer comprises a cross-linked polyurethane layer or a cross-linked polyurethane acrylate layer.

Flexible devices including conductive traces with enhanced stretchability, and methods of making and using the same are provided. The circuit die is disposed on a flexible substrate. Electrically conductive traces are formed in channels on the flexible substrate to electrically contact with contact pads of the circuit die. A first polymer liquid flows in the channels to cover a free surface of the traces. The circuit die can also be surrounded by a curing product of a second polymer liquid.

The solid circuit die is disposed on a substrate with contact pads aligned with channels on the substrate. The invention also relates to insulated glass units containing said pillars. The present disclosure provides a pillar for use in a vacuum insulated glass unit wherein the pillar includes a body. The body includes a plurality of first structures, at least one first void region between the plurality of first structures; and a first land surface region located between the plurality of first structures and at least one first channel having first and second ends and a first channel opening proximate the first surface of the body. The first channel is in fluid communication with the local environment through at least one of its first and second ends, and the at least one first void region is in fluid communication with at least one of the local environment in a direction parallel to the first surface and the at least one first channel. The height of the plurality of first structures is less than the depth of the first channel.

A flexible OLED display device that includes an upper module having a cover window film, a lower module, and a display module between the upper and lower modules. The display module includes an OLED and an OLED substrate. The stiffnesses of components in the display device are controlled to satisfy a particular relationship such that the bending stiffnesses of the upper and lower modules are tuned in order to position the neutral bending plane below the display module, which places the display into a state of compressive strain as opposed to zero strain. This design is suitable for a bifold flexible display in which the upper module can be folded to face itself.

A method includes unwinding a web material from a support and providing an elastomeric stamp, wherein the stamp includes a base surface and an arrangement of pattern elements extending away from the base surface, and wherein each pattern element has a stamping surface with a lateral dimension of less than about 5 microns and a height with respect to the base surface, and wherein an aspect ratio of the height to the lateral dimension is at least 1.5. The stamping surfaces of the pattern elements are inked with an ink composition including a functionalizing molecule, wherein the functionalizing molecule includes a functional group selected to bind to said substrate material. The stamping surface of the pattern elements is contacted with a major surface of the web material for a print time sufficient to bind the functional group with the web material to form a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of the functionalizing material on the major surface of the web material according to the arrangement of pattern elements on the stamping surface.

An inking roller with an inking surface at least periodicially contacts the stamping surface of the stamping elements. The inking surface is impregnated with an ink composition including an organosulfur compound having a thiol functional group selected to bind to a major surface of the web material to form a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) thereon according to the array of pattern elements on the stamping surface.
