A radar sensing system includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is configured for installation and use in a vehicle and configured to transmit radio signals. The receiver is configured for installation and use in the vehicle and configured to receive radio signals that include the transmitted radio signals transmitted by the transmitter and reflected from objects in an environment. The receiver includes a plurality of inputs and a plurality of low noise amplifiers (LNAs). Each input of the plurality of inputs is communicatively coupled to a corresponding LNA of the plurality of LNAs. The plurality of LNAs are co-located, and respective outputs of the plurality of LNAs are all directly coupled together at a connection point.

In one embodiment, the present invention includes a transceiver coupled to a baseband processor to receive digital control information that includes both event and schedule information, and which stores the digital control information in a storage of the transceiver. The oscillator includes a bias circuit to provide a different bias voltage to each second terminal and an amplifier that is coupled to the varactor cells to generate an oscillating signal.

A voltage regulator configured to receive a supply voltage from a voltage supply and provide a regulated voltage to digital circuitry is provided. Digital-to-analog converter (DAC) circuitry may be integrated with other components of RF circuitry to enable all-digital frequency control communications from baseband processor circuitry to RF circuitry.

Frequency modification circuitry may be employed as part of a crystal oscillator circuit to generate a reference signal with adjustable frequency. The frequency modification circuitry may be implemented as part of a crystal oscillator circuit that includes digitally controlled crystal oscillator ('DCXO') circuitry and a crystal. The frequency modification circuitry may adjust the frequency of the reference signal in response to one or more frequency control signals. In one example, the frequency modification circuitry may include variable capacitors such as one or more continuously variable and/or discretely variable capacitors for providing coarse and/or fine adjustment of the reference signal frequency.

Frequency modification circuitry for use in radio-frequency communication apparatus and associated methods

A radio-frequency (RF) apparatus capable of transmitting RF signals includes transmitter path circuitry. The transmitter path circuitry includes a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that generates an output signal. The frequency of the output signal of the VCO circuitry is adjustable in response to a first control signal and a second control signal. The transmitter path circuitry also includes a first feedback circuitry and a second feedback circuitry that are responsive to the output signal of the VCO circuitry. The first feedback circuitry provides the first control signal to the VCO circuitry. The first control signal coarsely adjusts the frequency of the output signal of the VCO circuitry to a desired frequency. The second feedback circuitry supplies the second control signal to the VCO circuitry. The second control signal fine tunes the frequency of the output signal of the voltage-controlled oscillator circuitry to the desired frequency.

Systems and methods for providing an adjustable reference signal to RF circuitry

A dual path frequency synthesizer is disclosed which includes a controlled oscillator and a phase detector that determines the phase difference between an output signal of the controlled oscillator and a reference signal. The synthesizer also includes a charge pump that is coupled to the phase detector. The synthesizer includes a direct path loop filter which is coupled to a charge pump output. The synthesizer also includes an integrating path loop filter which is coupled to another charge pump output and which has substantially the same topology as the direct path loop filter. The direct path loop filter and the integrating path loop filter are substantially matched with one another. The charge pump pumps charge into the direct and integrating path loop filters in response to the phase difference between the reference signal and the output signal of the controlled oscillator as determined by the phase detector. The controlled oscillator is effectively decoupled from the direct and integrating path loop filters at those times when the charge pump is pumping charge into the filters. This reduces the impact of signals from the charge pump that might otherwise cause degradation in the performance of the controlled oscillator and spurious radiation.
