A method permitting less energy consumption and efficient formation of high quality electrodes is provided. An electrode is formed as an electrodeposited film by irradiating the surface of an object to be treated, the surface at least permitting generation of charged particles when irradiated with a laser beam, with a fentosecond laser beam and metal-plating the surface of a substrate using hot electrons generated by this laser irradiation.

An optical pulse code recognition device and an optical distributor recognize multiple bits of a 1 Tbps packet signal as they are, all at one time. A serial signal light emitted from an optical fiber is collimated by a lens and applied onto a mask having a mask pattern. A thin film optical switch increases its optical transmittance when irradiated with a control light, allowing the collimated signal light to transmit through it. When the control light is applied, the transmitted collimated signal light is converted into a parallel signal. The mask pattern has multiple transmission portions allowing one bit of signal light to transmit through and an equal number of non-transmitting portions to block the light, and whether or not a bit pattern of the signal light and the mask pattern match each other is found by detecting a maximum or minimum value of light intensity with a photodetector.

An image forming method wherein an aqueous dispersion is prepared in a vessel of an apparatus. The aqueous dispersion contains an electrodeposition material including a fine particle coloring material, and a polymer which is chemically dissolved, or is deposited and precipitated, by a change in pH. The vessel can hold a liquid, and has therein an image supporting member. The image supporting member has at least an electrode, which can supply current or an electric field in accordance with an image pattern, and a surface which can support an image; and a counter electrode which forms a pair of electrodes together with the electrode. The electrodeposition material is deposited and precipitated to form an image by supplying current or an electric field in accordance with an image pattern to the image supporting member and the counter electrode and by changing the pH value of the aqueous dispersion in the vicinity of the image supporting surface of the image supporting member. The polymer in the electrodeposition material has both hydrophobic groups and hydrophilic groups in the molecule, the proportion of the number of the hydrophobic groups to the total number of hydrophilic groups and the hydrophobic groups in the polymer is in the range of from 40 to 80%, 50% or more of the hydrophilic groups can reversibly change from hydrophilic groups to hydrophobic groups due to a change in pH value, and the acid value of the polymer is on the range of from 30 to 400.

Image forming method

A method permitting less energy consumption and efficient formation of high quality electrodes is provided. An electrode is formed as an electrodeposited film by irradiating the surface of an object to be treated, the surface at least permitting generation of charged particles when irradiated with a laser beam, with a femtosecond laser beam and metal-plating the surface of a substrate using hot electrons generated by this laser irradiation.

To provide a process for recording an image using a photoelectrodeposition method having high general-purpose properties that require no restriction on the selection of a material used as a substrate, a process for recording an image having (A) arranging a substrate comprising a support a conductive film and a photosemiconductor thin film laminated in this order, in such a manner that at least the photosemiconductor thin film comes in contact with an electrodeposition solution (B) applying an electric current or a voltage to the conductive film and simultaneously irradiating the substrate with light from the side of the photosemiconductor thin film through the electrodeposition solution and (C) generating a photoelectromotive force on a light irradiated part, so as to form an electrodeposition film on the light irradiated part. The process for recording an image further comprises, if desired, (D) transferring the electrodeposition film onto an image retaining substrate such as ordinary paper.

An image is formed by a process comprising the steps of: preparing a substrate comprising a transparent substrate having formed thereon a transparent electroconductive film and a semiconductor thin film in this order; preparing in a vessel, which can hold an liquid, an aqueous liquid containing a coloring material and an electrodepositable material capable of chemically dissolving or sedimanting/precipitating depending on the change in the pH; connecting a device than can supply an electric current or an electric field in accordance with an image pattern to the transparent electroconductive film of the substrate; fixing the substrate so that the semiconductor thin film is immersed in the aqueous liquid; disposing a counter electrode as another member of an electrode pair in the vessel; disposing a prescribed photomask on the transparent substrate of the substrate; and carrying out light irradiation at the transparent substrate through the photomask so that an electrodeposited film containing the electrodepositable material is formed selectively on portions where electromotive force is generated by the light irradiation.

Image forming method and image forming apparatus for use in the method

A method for manufacturing a color filter having a high resolution and excellent controllability, in few steps without using a photolithographic process is disclosed. The method includes: preparing a substrate produced by sequentially forming a transparent electroconductive film and a semiconductor film on a transparent substrate; preparing a water-based liquid in a vessel, the water based liquid containing a coloring material and an electrodeposition material which is chemically dissolved or precipitated/sedimented by changes in the pH; securing the substrate having the transparent electroconductive film, to which means for supplying a current or an electric field according to an image pattern is connected, such that the semiconductor thin film is dipped in the water-based liquid; disposing a counter electrode in the vessel and disposing a mask pattern on the transparent substrate and applying light to selectively precipitate an electrodeposition film, which includes electrodeposition materials, on a portion at which electromotive force was generated with light irradiation, thereby forming a monochromatic color filter. A plurality of coloring materials, which each have a different hue, can be used and the steps for forming a monochromatic color filter can be repeated for each material having a different hue to form a polychromatic color filter.

Color filter and method for manufacturing the same

An image forming method wherein an aqueous dispersion is prepared in a vessel of an apparatus. The aqueous dispersion contains an electrodeposition material including a fine particle coloring material, and a polymer which is chemically dissolved, or is deposited and precipitated, by a change in pH. The electrodeposition material is deposited and precipitated by changing the pH value of the aqueous dispersion in the vicinity of the image supporting surface of the image supporting member. The polymer in the electrodeposition material has both hydrophobic groups and hydrophilic groups, the proportion of number of the hydrophobic groups to the total number of hydrophilic groups and the hydrophobic groups in the polymer is in the range of from 40 to 80%, 50% or more of the hydrophilic groups can reversibly change from hydrophilic groups to hydrophobic groups due to a change in pH value.

A process for producing a filter comprising: a step of arranging an electrodeposition substrate, which comprises a light transmissible support having a light transmissible conductive film and a photosemiconductor thin film with a photoelectromotive function in this order provided thereon, in such a manner that at least the photosemiconductor thin film is immersed in an electrodeposition solution containing a colored electrodeposition material; a step of imagewise exposing the electrodeposition substrate with applying a voltage or an electric current to the conductive film, to form a colored electrodeposition film in an exposed part; a step of immersing at least the photosemiconductor thin film, in which the colored electrodeposition film has been formed, of the electrodeposition substrate in a metallic plating solution; and a step of applying a voltage or an electric current to the conductive film, to form a black matrix comprising a metallic plating film in a part of the photosemiconductor thin film, in which the colored electrodeposition film is not formed. The black matrix of the metallic plating film may be formed before the formation of the colored electrodeposition film.

A transparent support having formed thereon a transparent conductive film and an organic or inorganic semiconductor thin film that generates an electromotive force by irradiation of light formed on the transparent conductive film, and an aqueous electrolytic solution containing a solvent, a coloring material and a polymer electrodeposition material, whose solubility in the solvent changes depending on the change of pH are prepared; the substrate and a counter electrode connected to the substrate are arranged in such a manner that an surface of the substrate, on which the semiconductor thin film is formed, and the counter electrode are immersed in the aqueous electrolytic solution; the transparent support is selectively irradiated with light; an electrodeposition film having the coloring material and the polymer electrodeposition material is deposited on a part of the support, on which an electromotive force is generated; and the deposited electrodeposition film is brought into contact with an aqueous liquid having a deposition initiating pH, at which the polymer electrodeposition material initiates to be deposited, or with an aqueous liquid having a pH on the side, on which the polymer electrodeposition material is further deposited more than at the deposition initiating pH.

Process for recording image

The image recording process comprises the steps of preparing an aqueous coloring material liquid by dissolving or dispersing fine particles of a coloring material in an aqueous liquid, disposing an image supporting member and a counter electrode opposite thereto in the aqueous coloring material liquid, applying an electric current or an electric field corresponding to an image pattern between the image supporting member and the counter electrode, electrochemically depositing an image forming material containing the fine particles of the coloring material on the surface of the image supporting member thereby forming an image, and transferring the image forming material, in a condition where the image forming material contains 20 to 60% by weight of the aqueous liquid, onto a recording medium so as to record the image on the recording medium. This process, which is highly safe and simple, makes it possible to obtain a high-quality image by improving the transfer performance of the fine particles of the coloring material.

A method of forming an image comprising the steps of: preparing a device in which an image holding element which can functions as one of electrodes pair and which has a surface for holding an image and an opposite electrode which is the other of the electrodes pair are immersed in a dispersion of a coloring material fine particles in which ionized coloring material fine particles are dispersed in an aqueous liquid, and applying electric current to a desired area of the image holding element and the opposite electrode through the dispersion and depositing-building-up the coloring material fine particles to the desired area electrochemically to form an image, is disclosed.
