A bearing assembly cooperates with a bearing seat formed in a bearing housing and includes a bearing having an inner ring, an outer ring and a rolling element in engagement with the rings and an anti-rotation device. The anti-rotation device engages the outer ring to the bearing housing limiting rotation of the outer ring within the bearing seat. The anti-rotation device includes a first feature engaging the outer ring and a second feature engaging the bearing housing. The features limit the rotation of the outer ring within the bearing seat. The first feature has an internal surface for engagement the outer ring and the second feature includes an engagement surface for engaging a protrusion extending from the bearing housing.

Electric machine and associated method

A housing for a motor is described. The housing extends between a pair of endshields and includes an inner surface, an outer surface, and at least one raised projection extending outwardly from at least one of the housing inner and outer surfaces. The projection includes at least one opening extending therethrough and at least one fastener configured to attach to the inner surface and extend outwardly through the housing opening.

Stud mounting system

A terminal board assembly for a multi-voltage device. The terminal board assembly includes a terminal board including a terminal block. The terminal board is configured for attachment to the multi-voltage device. The terminal block is configured to electrically couple with an electrical power source and the multi-voltage device. The assembly also includes a plug that is configured for insertion within the terminal block. The terminal block is configured to receive the plug in at least one of a first inserted position and a second inserted position. The orientation of the plug relative to the terminal block is the same in the first inserted position as in the second inserted position. The terminal block is configured to transfer a first voltage to the multi-voltage device when the plug is attached to the terminal block in the first inserted position. The terminal block is configured to transfer a second voltage to the multi-voltage device when the plug is attached to the terminal block in the second inserted position.

Methods and systems for electric motor voltage change

A bearing load washer that permits assembly of electric motors with the rotor shaft in a vertical position and extending downward is described. The bearing load washer includes a plurality of portions that form a non-planar, wave shaped, substantially circular shaped, washer body. The washer includes a center opening that is sized so that an electric motor rotor shaft can extend through the washer body. The washer includes an outer circumferential surface and at least one raised area extending radially from the outer circumferential surface. The raised areas are configured to increase the outside diameter of the washer so that the outer circumferential surface engages the inner surface of an endshield bearing pocket at each raised area of the outer circumferential surface.

Bearing load washer

A mounting bracket for a motor run capacitor includes a capacitor clasp which extends from a base to the motor run capacitor. The mounting bracket further includes a U-shaped member which attaches the bracket to a motor shell. The bracket also includes a tab which connects to a tab coupling on the shell. The motor shell includes a slot and a circular opening for engaging the U-shaped member and a circular projection on a lock of the mounting bracket, respectively.

Mounting bracket for motor capacitor

An electric motor assembly capable of withstanding heavy side loading includes a motor housing having a shell with first and second end shields including bearing supports having bearings therein. The first end shield further includes a flange for connecting a compressor to the motor. A rotor is rotatably mounted in the housing and supported by the bearings. A stiffening collar, positioned between a rotor core and the first end shield, surrounds a portion of a rotor shaft and provides support for the shaft against deflection due to heavy side loading. A centrifugal mechanism and a spacer are positioned on the rotor assembly outboard of the motor housing. The motor assembly also includes a cover attached to the second end shield. The cover holds a start capacitor, a run capacitor and a centrifugal switch and further includes snaps for mounting the centrifugal switch to the cover. An overload and an overload bracket extend, at least partially, through an opening in the second end shield. The overload bracket includes snaps that engage the second end shield and maintain the bracket and overload in position. A load washer having a plurality of snaps engages the second end shield and maintains the load washer in position on the second end shield.

Shaft support assembly for direct drive motor

An electric motor has a housing including a frame and first and second end shields disposed adjacent opposing ends of said frame to define a motor compartment. A stator winding is mounted on the housing within the motor compartment and includes at least first and second main windings. An armature is rotatably mounted on the housing within the motor compartment in spaced relation to the stator winding. A voltage selection switch, which is moveable between first and second positions, is mounted on the first end shield to allow the motor to be run at high or low voltage settings. The first end shield also includes a silicon-grease filled tubular seat which reduces the transfer of contaminants into the motor compartment.

Method of voltage selection and bearing protection for an electric motor

An air compressor system having an unloader valve which is directly mechanically activated by an air compressor motor's centrifugal mechanism to allow the motor to reach a predetermined speed before a load is applied is disclosed. The unloader valve is mounted directly on an end flange of the motor and communicates with an outlet conduit of the air compressor to allow the compressed air from the air compressor to vent to atmosphere until the motor reaches the predetermined speed.

Air compressor system

A speed reduction switch for a multiple speed induction motor includes a speed selector switch and a delay element. As the motor is switched from a high speed to a lower speed, the delay element temporarily prevents electrical connection of a motor auxiliary winding for low speed operation. The motor is therefore de-energized and slows down. After a preselected delay, the delay element connects the motor auxiliary winding when the motor is at a lower speed so that little magnetic braking of the motor occurs, and the motor smoothly transitions from a higher speed to a lower speed.

Speed reduction switch

An air compressor system having an actuator for controlling the energization of the primary and start windings of the compressor motor and the state of a relief valve is disclosed. No power is applied to either of the windings and said valve is closed when the actuator is disposed in the first position. Movement of the actuator to the second position energizes both of the windings and opens the relief valve so that the motor and compressor can reach full speed before a load is applied. When the actuator is released and moved to the third position, the start winding is deenergized and the relief valve is closed to allow an air storage tank to be filled.

Systems and apparatus for integrating an air switch and a power cord into an electric motor, and methods for assembling an electric motor including an integral air switch and an integral power cord, are described. In one embodiment, an air switch and a power cord are incorporated into an electric motor. No additional removable cover is required for the switch and cord. To eliminate the motor centrifugal switch, an air switch is provided to control energization and de-energization of the motor windings. The air switch includes a snap action switch to cut-out the start winding used for ensuring that the rotor has sufficient starting torque.

Systems and apparatus for controlling energization of electric motor

A mounting and handling shroud for a pedestal-type sump pump includes a cup-shaped member mounted to the sump pump motor. The cup shaped member has an end shroud plate contiguous with an outer shroud plate extending along at least a portion of the motor housing, generally perpendicular to the end shroud plate. The mounting member includes at least one mounting element formed therein that defines an opening for securing the motor to the sump. The mounting element includes a handle portion extending generally transversely relative to the outer shroud plate and a depending leg portion that defines a handle. The shroud can include a pump start switch, pump power and running indicators and a power cord strain relief device.

Tie-off member for pedestal sump pumps

A weldment for attaching mounting brackets and bases to electric motors includes an internal doubler element that is positioned within a motor shell and attached to the inner wall surface of the motor shell. A mounting bracket or base positioned on the outer wall surface of the motor shell is attached to the internal doubler element by a plug weld. The internal doubler element is positioned to increase the strength of the shell at critical stress areas. In addition to utilizing the internal doubler element, the mounting bracket is positioned to be aligned with and adjacent the lap weld seam of the motor shell.

Motor bracket weldment

A two compartment motor has a frame, a pair of end shields disposed adjacent opposing ends of the frame to define a first compartment, a stator winding supported by the frame within the first compartment, an armature rotatably supported by the end shields and disposed within the first compartment adjacent the stator winding, a cover mounted to the motor adjacent one of the end shields to define a second compartment between the cover and the end shield, and a control plate mounted within the second compartment. The control plate serves as a mounting surface for securing a plurality of electrical components used in the control and operation of the motor in position within the second compartment. The control plate is a molded plastic component having integrally formed mounting mechanisms for at least one of the electrical components. The electrical components may include a starting capacitor, voltage and/or speed control switches, an overload device and electrical terminals. Ventilation openings, lead openings and shields may also be integrally formed in the control plate. The plate may be provided with recesses to accommodate electrical connectors, a centrifugal switch and other components. A method of assembling the motor includes mounting the plurality of components to the control plate to form a sub-assembly prior to connecting this sub-assembly to the other components of the motor.
