An approach relates to manipulation of tools or instruments in the performance of a task by a robot. In accordance with this approach, sensor data is acquired and processed to identify a subset of instruments initially susceptible to manipulation. The instruments are then manipulated in the performance of the task based on the processed sensor data.

Method and robotic system for manipulating instruments

The present approach relates to integrated planning of robot navigation and manipulator motion in performing tasks. In particular, as discussed herein sensor information, such as visual information, may be used for the robot to locate a target object when it arrives at a working location. Adjustments may be made based on this information that may include moving the robot and planning a manipulator arm motion.

Architecture and methods for robotic mobile manipulation system

The present disclosure relates to cell processing techniques. By way of example, a cell processing system may include a plurality of sample processing devices configured to process patient samples and a plurality of readers respectively associated with the plurality of sample processing devices, wherein each reader is configured to read information from tracking devices associated with respective patient samples. The system may also include a controller that uses information from the readers to provide an estimated completion time for a patient sample based on availability of the sample processing devices.

System and methods for robotic autonomous motion planning and navigation

The present disclosure relates to cell processing techniques. By way of example, a cell processing system may include a plurality of tracking devices coupled to a respective plurality of sample processing containers and storing sample identification information for a patient sample for use with sample processing devices configured to process the patient sample according to workflow steps of a processing protocol. A plurality of readers are configured to receive signals from the plurality of tracking devices. A controller may be coupled to the plurality of readers and configured to determine if the patient sample is processed according to the processing protocol based at least in part on the signals from the plurality of tracking devices.

Embodiments of the disclosure comprise a vision-based robotic manipulation system that identifies, singulates, and removes an individual surgical instrument from a cluttered environment. A computer-vision algorithm incorporated with the system is robust against optical challenges such as changing light conditions, specularities, and inter-reflections among various surgical instruments. The system estimates 2D pose (as opposed to a more challenging 3D pose) using a camera with normal room lighting to identify each object, including its specified data matrix barcode; and incorporates the use of a robotic arm with a compliant electromagnetic gripper to handle objects having large shape variance. The system can then relocate the objects as desired. The robot manipulator is utilized in hospital and research settings, manufacturing, and sterile environments.

Vision-guided electromagnetic robotic system

A method of generating an output vector to identify a character-of-interest using a sparse distributed memory (SDM) module. The method includes obtaining a feature vector having a vector address. The feature vector is based on a character-of-interest in an acquired image. The method also includes identifying activated locations from hard locations by determining relative distances between the vector address and the stored vector location addresses. Stored content counters of the activated locations include first and second stored sub-sets of counters. The method also includes combining the counters of the first stored sub-sets of the activated locations using a first summation thread to provide a first combined sub-set of values. The method also includes combining the counters of the second stored sub-sets of the activated locations using a second summation thread to provide a second combined sub-set of values. The first and second summation threads are run in parallel.

System and method for identifying a character-of-interest

Apparatus and methods for tracking a plurality of marine riser assets are provided. Part of a riser lifecycle monitoring system, the apparatus can include an oil and gas riser spider to connect a plurality of riser pipe sections during assembly of a riser pipe string. The riser spider forms an annulus around a first section of the plurality of riser pipe sections and supports the first section of the plurality of riser pipe sections during connection to a second section. The apparatus can also include a reader including an antenna arrangement to read a plurality of radio frequency identification tags, e.g., directional 125 kHz RFD tags, attached to or embedded within an outer surface portion of each of the plurality of riser pipe sections.

Oil and gas riser spider with low frequency antenna apparatus and method

A system and method for identifying characters using a processor and a sparse distributed memory (SDM) module. The system and method are configured to receive image data relating to an object having a surface with physical markings thereon. The physical markings include characters-of-interest. The system and method are also configured to analyze the image data to convert at least one of the characters-of-interest in the image data into a corresponding feature vector. The system and method are also configured to identify the characters-of-interest using the feature vector and the SDM module. A suggested identity for the characters-of-interest is provided.

System and method for identifying physical markings on objects

Techniques are provided for reducing the transmission of infrared (IR) signals outside of a reclamation receptacle. Techniques include using a reclamation receptacle having an IR transmitter configured to transmit IR signals when the reclamation receptacle is in a closed configuration and configured to cease transmission of the IR signals when the reclamation receptacle is in an open configuration. A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag may be deposited in the reclamation receptacle. The RFID tag may receive the IR signals and generate a radio frequency (RF) signal in response to the IR signals, wherein the RF signal indicates that the RFID tag is in the reclamation receptacle.

Wireless high capacity sub-sea communications system

An improved RFID tag reader is provided. More specifically, an RFID tag reader is provided that includes a plurality of antenna panels arranged to form a sensing volume in which RFID tags are read. Additionally, the RFID tag reader includes a novel switching mechanism that activates the antenna panels in sequence while minimizing cross coupling between the antenna panels. Furthermore, a novel antenna geometry also reduces antenna cross coupling.

A wireless-enabled tightening system for fasteners is disclosed. The system includes a visual designator configured to project an indicator onto a workpiece. The system also includes a torque wrench comprising a wireless transmitter and a means for identifying whether the correct torque has been applied to a fastener on the workpiece and configured to provide a feedback for a user. The system also includes a camera configured to capture an image of the workpiece when an appropriate amount of torque has been applied to the fastener. The system further includes a microprocessor for determining sequence of the fastener and identifying the tightened fastener.

Method for operating a torque system configured to tighten a series of fasteners

Methods, systems, and processes are disclosed for determining emissions outputs. One method communicates with a communications network and acquires at least one of energy usage information associated with sources of emissions and emissions information associated with sources of emissions. The energy usage information and the emissions information is acquired as each occurs in real time. The method reports emissions outputs based upon the acquired real time information. Another method communicates with a communications network and acquires at least one of energy usage information associated with sources of emissions and emissions information associated with sources of emissions. This embodiment stores the acquired information as each occurs in real time. Emissions outputs are reported for the industrial process, the emissions outputs based upon the acquired real time information.
