An automated water testing apparatus and to a method of using the apparatus to test the amounts of dissolved salts and other solids in a water sample, where the apparatus includes a specially constructed sample bottle which preferably has a flexible wall and is fitted with a filter cap having a mesh top wall through which sample water can be poured to remove suspended matter, several beakers, a desiccator enclosure, a computer containing a database and an inventive computer program for executing method steps, and several devices in communication with and controlled by the computer and the program for executing the method, these devices preferably including a conductivity meter having a meter electrode, a robotic arm having a gripper, an analytical scale, a top loader balance scale and an oven.

Water testing method and apparatus

A strain release clamp assembly consisting of a backshell component or female component member and a compression ring or male component member. The female component member is a generally cylindrical component having a plurality of radially directed bearing access ports therethrough for a screw-type adjusting member, a ball bearing, and an intermediate biasing means. The inside surface of the female member incudes a concentric groove with an access channel to the outside surface for containing one side portion of a locking wire inserted through the access channel. The male member includes on the outside surface with a matching concentric groove for receiving the opposite side portion of the locking wire and includes a plurality of spaced apart ball bearing depressions. The female component member receives the male component member and is locked thereto by the locking wire. Unintentional relative rotation between the female component member and the male component is prevented by the ball bearings held in the depressions.

Strain relief clamp assembly

A strain release clamp assembly consisting of a backshell component or female component member and a compression ring or male component member. The inside surface of the female member includes a concentric groove with an access channel to the outside surface for containing one side portion of a locking wire inserted through the access channel. The male member includes on the outside surface with a matching concentric groove for receiving the opposite side portion of the locking wire and includes a plurality of spaced apart ball bearing depressions. The female component member receives the male component member and is locked thereto by the locking wire. Unintentional relative rotation between the female component member and the male component is prevented by the ball bearings held in the depressions.

A self locking electrical connector assembly includes a connector shell and a coupling nut. The connector shell has a centrally located outwardly projecting annular flange with a plurality of retaining shoulders by which the coupling nut is mounted to the connector shell and allowed to rotate but prevented from substantial axial movement. The coupling nut cavity is defined by a front annular retention shoulder, a back access opening opposite the front retention shoulder, a cylindrical surface between the front shoulder and the access opening, an annular retention groove in the cylindrical surface adjacent the access opening and an annular back facing stop shoulder between the retention groove and the front shoulder. A retaining ring held in the retention groove abuts against a back facing shoulder of the shell's annular flange. A front facing stop shoulder of the annular flange abuts against the back facing stop shoulder of the coupling nut. A front facing shell abutment shoulder abuts against the end of a mating shell. A wave spring is positioned in the cavity between the front retention shoulder and the annular flange to press a plurality of dimples in a clutch plate into the plurality of grooves in a front facing ratchet surface located about the annular flange to hinder loosening rotation of the coupling nut.
