A distance detection device includes a light source, a light guiding component, an image sensor and a processor. The light guiding component is disposed adjacent to the light source and includes a discontinuous surface. The light guiding component is adapted to project a beam emitted from the light source onto an object to form an illuminating pattern spotted by the discontinuous surface. The image sensor is adapted to capture an image about the object. The processor is electrically connected with the image sensor and utilized to analyze position variation of a spot formed by the discontinuous surface within the image for determining a distance of the object.

Distance detection device

An optical sensor assembly is disclosed. The optical sensor assembly includes a folded optical system that utilizes one or more non-planar reflective surfaces that enable the manipulation or conditioning of the overall thickness of the sensor assembly, the field of view of the sensor assembly, and the image size, either independently or in combination.

Non-planar reflective folded optics

An optical sensor assembly is disclosed. The optical sensor assembly includes an illumination system that segments light emitted by a light source into multiple segments. The multiple segments are allowed to travel different optical paths on their way to a common target area and are further allowed to irradiate different portions of the common target area. This enables a low-profile optical sensor assembly to be achieved.
