A wax composition comprising a high molecular weight aliphatic alcohol, a low molecular weight ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, at least one odorant, and a wax. The odorant is substantially retained in the wax composition when the wax composition is exposed to temperatures below a melting point of the wax composition. Furthermore, the odorant is emitted from the wax composition when the wax composition is exposed to temperatures at or above the melting point of the wax composition.

Dual colorants are disclosed. The colorants of the present invention include at least one compound, which exhibits a first color outside an aqueous environment and a second color after placement into an aqueous environment. In some cases, the colorant includes an oil-soluble dye capable of exhibiting the first color and a water-soluble dye capable of exhibiting the second color. In certain embodiments, such colorants may be used in toilets. In these embodiments, the first color corresponds to a color associated with a fragrance, such as red for rose, while the second color corresponds to a color associated with cleanliness in a toilet, such as blue or green.

Effervescent compositions are disclosed. The effervescent composition may include at least one compound capable of effervescence in the presence of a liquid, such as water. The effervescent composition may also include a non-hygroscopic solvent. The presence of the non-hygroscopic solvent may assist the effervescent composition in substantially avoiding effervescence until the composition contacts a liquid. Optionally, the ratio of the at least one compound capable of effervescence to the non-hygroscopic solvent is not less than 9:1.

Kits for consumer activated dispensers of active materials, such as air fresheners, are provided, comprising an inert carrier material, an active material, and a coloring agent. The inert carrier material is specifically designated as being rice hulls, a waste product of the milling of rice for consumption. The kit may take various forms, such as a container in which are packaged the appropriate amounts of rice hulls, fragrance, and colorant. In another form, the kit may comprise a sachet or pad containing the above materials. Further, a pad or sachet, containing rice hulls and a coloring agent if desired, may be subjected to the controlled continuous feed of a water solution of a fragrance, whereby a long term, consistent fragrancing is obtained.

This invention provides an air freshener candle product which is a slender combustible body composed of ingredients which include (1) candle-wax, (2) thermoplastic polymer and (3) particulate air freshener-release filler. The air freshener is released into the atmosphere under candle burning conditions. An invention taper-shaped candle can be produced by a continuous molding process.

This invention provides a prilled wax composition that can be compression-molded to a votive type candle product which has a superior combination of density and hardness properties. An invention receptacle-contained votive candle can have a burn rate between about 2 and 5 grams per hour with a standard cotton wick, and maintains a flame height between about 1-3 centimeters during combustion.

This invention provides a wick composition which is comprised of a polymeric strand such as polyethylene, which has a content of particulate cellulosic filler ingredient. The cellulosic ingredient contains chemically-bound air-freshener constituent. The wick is adapted for incorporation in a candle body. When the wick is ignited, it combusts with a controlled release of the air freshener constituent into the atmosphere.
