The present invention is an ASIC-controlled alarm unit. The ASIC circuit performs all the necessary control functions to provide audible and visual signaling when used with external horn and strobe circuits.

Method and apparatus for providing an ASIC controlled alarm unit

A mounting plate assembly for a notification appliance is disclosed. For example, a mounting plate is designed with at least one aperture for receiving a plurality of leads, e.g., from a backbox. In turn, these leads can be received by a plurality of contacts that are deployed on the mounting plate. In one embodiment, at least two of these contacts are in physical contact with each other at a juncture, thereby providing connectivity between these two contacts. However, the physical contact at the juncture is non-resettable, i.e., if a force is applied to the juncture, then the connectivity is severed and the physical contact between the two contacts cannot be easily re-established even if the force is removed.

A mounting plate assembly for a notification appliance. For example, a mounting plate is designed with at least one aperture for receiving a plurality of leads, e.g., from a backbox. In turn, these leads can be received by a plurality of contacts that are deployed on the mounting plate. The present invention generally discloses a weatherproof flush adapter plate assembly. In one embodiment, the adapter plate assembly includes a plate. The plate includes a front side, a back side, an outer edge, at least one inner edge, at least one mounting member for receiving a back box and at least one mounting member for receiving a notification appliance. The adapter plate assembly also includes a first gasket coupled to the front side of the plate and a second gasket coupled to the back side of the plate.

Adapter plate assembly for outdoor installation of notification appliances

A small and non-intrusive reflector is disclosed for use with a strobe light system for enhancing light distribution for wall mounted application, while maintaining a low current draw. The reflector comprises a &ldquo;top reflective section&rdquo; and a &ldquo;bottom reflective section&rdquo;, where each reflective section comprises three distinct reflective portions: a left reflective portion, a center reflective portion and a right reflective portion. Collectively, top section left portion and bottom section left portion provide illumination to a negative horizontal range of viewing angles, whereas top section right portion and bottom section right portion provide illumination to a positive horizontal range of viewing angles. Finally, the top section center portion and bottom section center portion provide illumination to a range of horizontal and vertical viewing angles.

The reflector of a strobe warning light for mounting on a wall has reflective surfaces for enhancing the amount of light projected into a sector defined by a horizontal reference plane and a vertical reference plane that intersect at the lamp axis, the lamp being oriented horizontally. Two wing-like reflective surfaces reflect light into a zone of the sector from 10 degrees to 40 degrees from the horizontal reference plane. Two other wing-like reflectors that adjoin the first two reflect light generally parallel to the lamp axis in opposite directions to increase the light intensity as the light is viewed from the sides. The wing-like reflective surfaces are located in diagonally opposite quadrants with respect to the horizontal reference plane and a plane at the lamp centerline perpendicular to the lamp axis, thereby leaving openings in the remaining two quadrants. A concave reflective surface behind the vertical reference plane reflects light away from the wall. A lens over the lamp has a concave reflective surface that reflects light generally downwardly to enhance the light output in the 70 to 90 degree range from the horizontal reference plane.

An audiovisual signaling device includes in electrical connection: (a) an auditory output portion which produces an auditory output and a corresponding low voltage oscillatory signal; (b) a converter portion which is responsive to and converts the low voltage oscillatory signal to a repetitively produced corresponding high voltage intermittent spike signal; (c) a visual output portion which produces a visual output; and (d) a portion responsive to the high voltage intermittent spike signal to repetitively activate the visual output.
