The direct drive for a throttle valve shaft in a throttle valve manifold comprises a coil and a rotor arranged directly adjacent to the coil. The rotor is made from a steel ring inside which a first inner magnetic shell and a second inner magnetic shell lie opposite each other. The steel ring has a first outer magnetic shell and a second outer magnetic shell lying opposite each other on the outside thereof. The steel ring is connected to the throttle valve shaft on the end thereof facing the throttle valve. A sensor for position recognition of the throttle valve is arranged in the middle of that region of the end of the steel ring facing away from the throttle valve.

Throttle valve body

Electrical actuator having a stator body and a rotor body which is pivotable iN the stator body through an angle of rotation. The actuator further comprises energizing means for exerting an electromagnetic torque on the rotor body and a control unit for controlling the angle of rotation. The control unit has a cascade control structure with a first control member for converting an electrical input signal corresponding to a required angle of rotation into an electrical intermediate signal corresponding to a required electromagnetic torque to be exerted on the rotor body and with a second control member for converting the intermediate signal into an output signal corresponding to a required electrical current through the energizing means. The first and second control members allow for specific intermediate calculations of the required electromagnetic torque and the required current, whereby the response time and accuracy of the control unit are improved.

Electrical actuator with a refined cascade control unit

A control unit (75) for controlling a first state variable of a system, for example an angle of rotation .phi. of a throttle valve (7) in a throttle device for use in an internal-combustion engine, the system being influenced by a disturbance variable during operation, for example an oscillating loading torque caused by air-flow fluctuations in the throttle device. The control unit includes a disturbance observer (125) for calculating a value of the disturbance variable at a first point in time on the basis of a mathematical model of the system, and a disturbance predictor (128) for predicting a value of the disturbance variable at a second point in time which follows the first point in time by a predetermined time interval. In this manner, a phase shift between the disturbance variable actually influencing the system and the compensation provided by the system for the disturbance variable is prevented at high frequencies of the disturbance variable.

An electrical drive arrangement for an electric motor including a stator having a plurality of phase windings, and a rotor. The drive arrangement includes an electronic commutation circuit to supply electric power to the phase windings of the electric motor, a position sensor device, a phase control circuit coupled to receive the sensor signals and provide resultant sensor signals with a phase shift relative to the phase relationship of the sensor signals, a waveform generator coupled to receive the resultant sensor signals and provide commutation signals, and a control circuit coupled at least to the waveform generator for setting the amplitude and the phase shift of the electric power to be supplied to the motor. The phase control circuit includes a control signal generation circuit, a sensor signal allocation circuit, a delay time determining circuit, a sensor signal output circuit, and a load signal generating circuit. The drive arrangement enables the torque angle, i.e., the phase angle between the magnetic field generated in the stator and the rotor position, to be controlled in dependence upon the movement of the rotor using simple position signals and simple circuitry.
