A device for delivering print shop products supplied in a product stream in two separate stacks contains a transport belt on which the print shop products are deposited, a first deflection roller, a second deflection roller arranged in an horizontal plane with the first deflection roller, a third deflection roller arranged below the second deflection roller, and a stationary fourth deflection roller arranged below the third deflection roller and guiding the transport belt. An actuator jointly moves the second and third deflection rollers in parallel with a horizontal plane from a first delivery position, in which the print shop products are transported to a first stop, into a second delivery position, in which the print shop products are transported to a further stop. First and second first adjustment devices change a distance between the bottom of the respective first and second product receiving spaces and the horizontal plane.

A method for backing printed products includes feeding signatures to a transport and stitching line of a gatherer stitcher by a plurality of feeders. A plurality of signatures are gathered on the transport and stitching line and forms a folded sheet assembly. The folded sheet assembly is stitched to form a brochure along the transport and stitching line. The spine of the brochure is backed along the transport and stitching line by a pressing apparatus.

A book binding machine for producing printed products, such as books, magazines or brochures, includes individually driven processing stations, such as a book spine processing station, a glue application station, a cover feeder and a pressing station, which are connected by a transport system that has a multiplicity of clamps for clamping-in book blocks. The clamps are driven individually, in particular by linear motors or servomotors, and are guided on a guide track.

A gatherer stitcher includes an endless gatherer chain for gathering and transporting folded sheets astride the chain. The gatherer chain has chain roof segments and driving elements being adjustable in position. In an inactive position, a driving element that can be folded forms part of the roof of the gatherer chain and, in another, active position, projects out of the roof of the gatherer chain transversely relative to the conveying direction. The driving element can be driven by a control device. A method for adapting the endless gatherer chain to a format of a product is also provided.

To optimize the effort involved when converting a gatherer stitcher which transports initially continuously transported brochures step by step into a stitching station and subsequently into an output station, sensors are assigned to machine components affected by geometrical parameters that are relevant to the process when there is a change of job order and to a reference component. The sensors emit signals defining the phase positions of the machine components, and a controller processing the signals coordinates the phase positions with at least one of the parameters in such a way that the brochures arrive in the output station in a center-oriented manner.

A saddle stitcher for producing personalized saddle stitched brochures includes a stitching station, at least two folded sheet feeders for the feeding of nonpersonalized folded sheets, an assembly chain, a drive system, and at least two card gluers arranged along the assembly chain which glue personalized printed matter onto the nonpersonalized folded sheets.

A device for the assembly of brochures from folded sheets includes a continuous conveyor which defines a direction of conveyance, feeders which deliver the folded sheets to the continuous conveyor, and controls for controlling the operation of the feeders and the continuous conveyor. In order to avoid waste and operational malfunctions, the controls provide the feeders located downstream from a first feeder with a law of motion which is dependent on the format of the folded sheets.
