A butt joint deep penetration laser welding method is used for joining facing end sections of flat steel products, each having a carbon content CS<0.02%. In order to improve such a method such that an improved weld quality in terms of geometry and strength is achievable with it, at least one carbon-containing carrier material is inserted into a butt joint gap between the end sections, the carbon content of which is C≥20·C, preferably C≥100·C, and/or carbon is inserted into the butt joint gap or applied to at least one end section, such that the volume of the carbon inserted into the butt joint gap corresponds to 1% to 20% of the volume of a melt produced by a butt joint deep penetration laser welding process.

A method for rinsing an overflow chamber at the bath-side end of a snout of a device for hot-dip coating a metal strip is presented. The snout guides the metal strip in a protective gas atmosphere before the metal strip is coated with a metal melt. A rinsing cycle is carried out in the overflow chamber of the snout by feeding metal melt from the molten bath into the overflow chamber and at the same time, sucking and pumping said melt out of the overflow chamber back into the molten bath. This rinsing cycle can be performed even when the snout has been retracted from the melt by supplying the melt from the molten bath to the overflow chamber with a delivery pump.

The invention relates to a method for coating a metal strip with the aid of a coating device. Within the coating device, the strip first runs through a coating container with a liquid coating agent and then a stripping nozzle device for stripping off excess coating agent from the surface of the strip. After the stripping nozzle device, the strip typically runs through a strip stabilizing device with a plurality of magnets on both broad sides of the strip. A device for coating a metal strip substrate includes a guiding apparatus for guiding the strip substrate along a movement path. A first coating apparatus coats a first main side of the strip substrate with an electrostatically charged coating powder which is in a fluidized state. The first coating apparatus is arranged under a first path section of the movement path. A second coating apparatus coats a second main side of the strip substrate with an electrostatically charged coating powder which is in a fluidized state. A redirecting unit redirects the strip substrate between the first and the second coating apparatus in such a way that the strip substrate in a second path section travels oppositely to the strip substrate in the first path section. A rolling system has a rolling mill a rod workpiece, a wire block comprised of at least two roll stands downstream of the rolling mill, and a calibrating block comprised of three roll stands spaced apart in the direction downstream of the wire block. The workpiece is passed in the direction downstream in the direction from the rolling mill through the wire block and thereafter through the calibrating block with thickness reduction in each block. The gaps of the stands of the calibrating block are set at a fixed spacing and not varied during a rolling operation. A sensor measures the thickness of the workpiece upstream of the calibrating block, and gaps of the roll stands of the rolling mill or wire block are adjusted in accordance with the measured thickness such that the workpiece has a predetermined thickness on entering the calibrating block.

A rolling-mill cooling unit has a cooling-unit conveyor transporting fanned-out loops of wire in a transport direction toward a coiler spaced downstream from the cooling-unit conveyor and serving to organize the fanned-out loops of wire into coils or bundles. A feeder conveyor extending in the direction has an upstream end juxtaposed with the cooling unit and a downstream end juxtaposed with the coiler and is operable to advance the loops of wire from the unit to the coiler.
