An electrosurgical system includes: an electrosurgical supply device, and an electrosurgical instrument, wherein the electrosurgical instrument includes a memory element which can be read out by the electrosurgical supply device when the electrosurgical instrument is connected to the electrosurgical supply device, and configuration data is stored on the memory element, which can be evaluated by the electrosurgical supply device in order to configure operating parameters which are compatible with the electrosurgical instrument. The electrosurgical system is characterized in that the configuration data is arranged in a flexible data structure which allows the memory element to simultaneously store multiple sets of configuration data which can be read and evaluated by different types of electrosurgical supply devices.

A high-frequency surgical appliance has a peak value detection and control unit, having a current or voltage sensor designed to detect the current strength or the voltage of a high-frequency alternating current output to the load. The control unit has a root-mean-square value former or is connected thereto, connected to the sensor and forms a root-mean-square value of a high-frequency alternating current detected by the sensor. The control unit deactivates the high-frequency generator when, in the steady state of the HF high-voltage circuit, a quantity of an instantaneous peak value of a signal representing an instantaneous value of the high-frequency alternating current detected during operation by the sensor exceeds a quantity of a value derived from the root-mean-square value of the high-frequency alternating current detected during operation by the sensor. The sensor continuously detects the instantaneous value of the current or voltage flowing during operation into the HF high-voltage circuit.

High-frequency surgical appliance

The invention relates to a combined ultrasound and HF surgical system, including at least one ultrasound generator which operatively provides an excitation signal through which an ultrasound converter can generate an ultrasound vibration, at least one HF generator which operatively generates HF energy, and at least one ultrasound and HF instrument electrically connected with the HF generator and the ultrasound generator, wherein the ultrasound vibrations and the HF energy are introducible into biological tissue through the HF instrument which includes at least one ultrasound converter and at least one HF electrode. In order to be able to use HF energy and ultrasound energy simultaneously without damaging the instrument or wearing the it out, the system includes a protective device which prevents sparks operatively generated through HF energy or reduces the probability of occurrence of the sparks.

Combined ultrasound and HF surgical system

The invention relates to a high-frequency surgical device for generating high-frequency energy for cutting and/or coagulating biological tissue. The high-frequency surgical device comprises an application part being electrically connectable to an electrosurgical instrument having at least one activation switch, an intermediary power circuit galvanically separated from the application part, a DC power source which, in operation, provides in the application part at least one DC voltage, a with the DC voltage source electrically connected control signal generator which, in operation, generates in the application part () from the DC voltage an alternating control signal with a predetermined switching frequency, and a to the control signal generator electrically connected evaluation unit being electrically connectable to the activation switch of the instrument and which, when the activation switch is actuated, transmits a with the switching frequency oscillating activation signal to the input power circuit.
