A computer-implemented method for comparing follow-up medical findings includes receiving image data showing a body part of a patient at a first time and retrieving, from a database, reference data associated to the image data. The reference data includes reference biometric data and one or more reference medical findings. Thereby the reference biometric data and the one or more reference medical findings have been extracted from reference image data depicting the body part of the patient at a second time, different than the first time. The method further includes processing the received image data to extract, from the image data, biometric data corresponding to the reference biometric data and one or more medical findings; performing a registration of the extracted biometric data with the reference biometric data; and comparing the extracted medical findings with the reference medical findings using the registration.

Patient follow-up analysis

Systems and methods are provided for generating a visualization of a lung fissure. Medical imaging data is processed to identify a lung mesh and fissures data. The lung mesh is augmented with the fissures data and projected onto a straight plane for rendering into a concise two-dimensional image in which completeness of the lung fissure may be detected.

A method is proposed for virtual endoscopy for medical 3D image display and processing in computed tomography. The method includes providing a first evaluation volume on the basis of a 3D data volume and providing an observer path through the first evaluation volume. A method is for preparing the appraisal of tomographic colon pictures, in particular of CT or MR pictures of the colon, in the case of which both a manual personal search takes place during which the lesions thus detected are confirmed, and a search for lesions carried out by a computer, if appropriate with automatic preliminary confirmation, takes place, the appraising person also rechecking the computer aided preliminary confirmations. In a method for respiration-dependent triggering of a data acquisition event in an imaging procedure, a navigation system is employed in order to reproduce the position of a body part moving due to respiration on a scale, particularly a linear scale. Triggering for the exposure of an image ensues at prescribed positions of a pointer relative to the scale, i.e. at prescribed scale values.

A signal that marks the slice is generated and a tomogram that corresponds to the slice marked by the signal is reconstructed and displayed.

In a method and CT device for scanning an examination subject, a radiation beam emanates from a focus of a radiation source which can be displaced around a system axis and strikes a detector system. If, during scanning, a body part of an examiner moves into an examination space covered by the radiation beam, this is automatically detected and the effective radiation is automatically reduced for a volumetric region which includes the body part of the examiner, with respect to a comparable second volumetric region, in which no body part of the examiner is located. The effect of this is to diminish the radiation dose to the examiner. Control for this purpose is performed, for example, by varying the tube current, by adjusting a beam diaphragm, or by an absorber inserted into the beam path. A parameter associated with the body part of the examiner also is detected and the size of the first volumetric region is automatically adjusted dependent on this parameter.

A medical technical system computing unit for calculating a multi-dimensional image dataset from subject signals supplied to the computing unit and obtained from the examination of a subject with at least one pre-operative imaging method. A virtual, multi-dimensional image that can be calculated from the multi-dimensional image dataset via the computing unit can be displayed on a display unit. A controllable window can be displayed at the display unit via a window generator allocated to the computing unit. The image at the display means corresponding to a virtual location of the controllable window controllable is produced via a control unit allocated to the computing unit.

Method for operating a computed tomography (CT) device

In an image reconstruction method for computed tomography the reconstruction of an image from datasets is accelerated so that, with adequate image quality, dynamic studies of moving organs or monitoring of moving therapeutic instruments are possible. To this end, data segments for a sub-scan reconstruction are taken from the continuously measured and pre-processed data stream. The starting angle of the individual data segments is not restricted to a fixed grid. The grid can be arbitrarily defined according to the current computing capability of the reconstruction computer.

Image reconstruction method for computed tomography

A medical imaging apparatus includes a measurement unit with an x-ray source and a radiation detector rotatable around an examination subject to conduct a scan of the examination subject and thereby to obtain a data set, which is supplied to a computer. Within the computer, a shadowgraph of the examination subject is calculated in real time as the examination subject is displaced during the scan relative to the measurement unit. The data used to construct the shadowgraph are obtained at a selected projection angle, which is reached a number of times by the measurement unit during the scan. The shadowgraph is displayed in real time as well, to an extent correlated with the amount of relative displacement between the examination subject and the measurement unit. The shadowgraph can be calculated using a convolution equation, wherein the data are twice convolved, once in the longitudinal direction, i.e., the direction of displacement between the examination subject and the measurement unit, and once in a direction corresponding to the direction along which the radiation detector extends. A standard computer tomogram can also be calculated from the same data set from which the data for calculating the shadowgraph are selected.
