An ophthalmic refractor is described that provides a non-linear relationship between spherical power and refractive error by positioning a reference plane for a sensor system of the refractor in front of the cornea. The refractor may have a working distance and dynamic range that enable it to be mounted on a surgical microscope. Also described are computational methods for analysing the output from the ophthalmic refractor, utilising error minimisation, linear regression and Fourier Transform analysis.

Ophthalmic refractor and method of ophthalmic refractor signal analysis

This disclosure describes systems and methods for displaying information that describes the accuracy of estimated values of physiological parameters. As part of the process of estimating a physiological parameter, the data used for the estimation are further analyzed to determine one or more statistical parameters indicative of the accuracy of the estimate. These statistical parameters are then displayed to the caregiver in order to provide the caregiver additional information concerning the estimated value. In the systems and methods described herein, one or more probability analyses are performed on the data used to generate the estimate of the physiological parameter. The analyses may include calculating the accuracy, confidence interval or some other statistical parameter representative of the accuracy of the estimate of the physiological parameter from the variations in the data An indication of the accuracy and/or an indication of the calculated probability may then be displayed to a caregiver or user.

Indicating the accuracy of a physiological parameter

An aspiration flow control device includes a housing having at least one vacuum port, at least one aspiration port, and an ejection port. The at least one vacuum port is adapted to be connected to a vacuum source, and the aspiration port is adapted to be connected to an aspiration line for receiving fluids from a surgical site. The device further includes a rotating structure having at least three vanes, which structure is configured to rotate within the housing. The at least three vanes divide an enclosed volume within the housing into at least three rotating fluid collection chambers. During rotation of the rotating structure, at least one fluid collection chamber is in communication with at least one vacuum port and the aspiration port through which fluid is received, and at least one other fluid collection chamber is simultaneously in communication with the ejection port through which fluid is expelled.

An ophthalmic surgery system for delivering light to a surgical site includes an ophthalmic surgical console including a light source to generate light and a processor operably coupled to the light source and a surgical handpiece operably coupled to the ophthalmic surgical console via an optical fiber for delivering light from the from the light source to a surgical site. The processor is configured to adjust the light source to ensure an output light level at the surgical site is substantially consistent over a period of time.
