A DC-DC converter includes a primary side sense circuit to detect a load current of the DC-DC converter based on reflected current from a secondary winding of the DC-DC converter to a primary winding of the DC-DC converter. A primary side diode models effects of a secondary side diode that is driven from the secondary winding of the DC-DC converter. An output correction circuit controls a switching waveform to the primary winding of the DC-DC converter based on feedback from the primary side sense circuit and the primary side diode.

Primary-side regulation for isolated power supplies

Various apparatuses, methods and systems for a voltage regulator are disclosed herein. For example, some embodiments provide an apparatus for regulating a voltage including an N-channel transistor that is connected between an input and an output, an error amplifier that is connected to the output, a capacitor that is connected between the error amplifier and a gate of the N-channel transistor, and a comparator that is connected to a node between the error amplifier and the capacitor. The apparatus also includes a charge pump that is switchably connected to the gate of the N-channel transistor. The apparatus is adapted to connect the charge pump to the gate of the N-channel transistor when a voltage at the node between the error amplifier and the capacitor rises above a threshold voltage.

A switched mode power supply has a high side switching transistor coupled between a voltage source and a load for generating the output voltage at the load. A driver circuit drives the high side switching transistor. A first resistor divider is coupled to the output voltage and has a first tap. An error amplifier has a first input coupled to the first tap and a compensated feedback loop. A second resistor divider is coupled to the output voltage and has a second tap, resistance of the second resistor divider being less than resistance of the first resistor divider. A switch is coupled to the second tap and to the first input of the error amplifier for connecting the second tap to the first input of the error amplifier when the output voltage of the switched mode power supply reaches a first predetermined voltage.

Switched mode power supply having improved transient response

In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, an external FET driving circuit includes a driving portion, a drain-to-gate clamp portion and a current feedback portion. The driving portion provides a driving signal to the external FET. The drain-to-gate clamp portion protects the external FET from flyback current, when the external FET is quickly turned OFF. The current feedback portion controls the driving signal provided by the driver.

Methods and apparatus for higher-order correction of bandgap voltage references are disclosed. An example bandgap voltage reference circuit disclosed herein comprises a bandgap voltage generation circuit comprising a first resistor, the bandgap voltage generation circuit configured to generate a proportional-to-absolute-temperature current to drive the first resistor to produce a first voltage, the first voltage contributing to an output bandgap voltage, and a first correction circuit electrically coupled to the first resistor and configured to provide a first correction current, the first correction circuit comprising a first nonlinear device configured to generate the first correction current only within a first temperature range, the first correction current decreasing with increasing temperature, the first correction current to drive the first resistor to increase the first voltage only within the first temperature range.

Methods and apparatus for higher-order correction of a bandgap voltage reference

One embodiment of the invention includes a power driver system. The power driver system comprises a power transistor that is activated to provide power to a load and a switching circuit configured to control the power transistor based on a control signal. The power driver system further comprises a control circuit configured to detect a flyback current from the load upon deactivation of the power transistor and to cause the switching circuit to steer the flyback current from a first flyback current path to a second flyback current path in response to detecting the flyback current path. The second flyback current path can have an impedance that is greater than the first flyback current path.

The present invention provides circuitry comprising a voltage supply () and an output node (). A transistor () is provided. A first resistive element () is coupled to the voltage supply, while a second resistive element ()&#x2014;having a resistance value equal to that of the first resistive element&#x2014;is coupled between a second terminal of the transistor and the output node. A first diode () is coupled to the first resistive element and to a first terminal of the transistor. System for producing high-voltage, low-power driver circuitry

A current monitor () having a high performance, simple, and cost effective design that is independent of process, temperature and voltage is disclosed herein. The current monitor () includes a sensing transistor () that couples to the main transistor () of an adjoining voltage regulator. Specifically, the control and source nodes of each transistor couple to each other, respectively. The size of the main transistor () is a predetermined multiple integer n of the size of the sensing transistor. A first resistor (R) couples between a supply voltage and the drain node of the main transistor (). A second resistor (R) couples between a supply voltage and the drain node of the sensing transistor (), wherein the size of the second resistor (R) is equal to the size of the first resistor (R) multiplied by the predetermined multiple integer n. An inverting input of an amplifier () couples to the drain node of the sensing transistor (), while a third resistor (R) connects between the supply voltage and a non-inverting input of the amplifier (). The amplifier () drives a transistor () within a closed feedback loop to equalize the value of the voltages at both inputs of the amplifier (). A feedback resistor (R) coupled between the source node of the transistor () and ground. A comparator () connects to the source node of the transistor () and between a current source and a reference resistor (R) to provide an output voltage.
