A device to treat an ocular condition having a rotary housing located within an outer housing rotationally fixed to a rotary spindle and rotationally movable relative to the outer housing; an elongate shaft projecting distally from the distal end region of the outer housing along a central longitudinal axis, at least a distal end region of the elongate shaft being sized for insertion into an eye. The elongate shaft includes an outer shaft and an inner cutting tube. Upon actuation of the device, the rotary housing rotates causing the rotary spindle and the inner cutting tube to rotate around the central longitudinal axis while simultaneously causing axial extension of the inner cutting tube distally along the central longitudinal axis to advance the distal cutting surface through a target tissue forming a tissue slug. Related devices, systems, and methods are provided.

A device for extracting lens material from an eye including a distal, disposable portion releaseably coupleable to a proximal, reusable portion. The disposable portion includes a cutting tube having a distal cutting tip and an inner lumen having a distal end. The disposable portion includes an aspiration pump fluidly coupled to the inner lumen of the cutting tube and a cutting tube drive mechanism configured to oscillate the cutting tube. The reusable portion includes an aspiration pump motor configured to drive the aspiration pump and a coupler for releaseably operatively coupling the pump motor to the aspiration pump. Methods and devices for handling a fluid and delivering the fluid to the eye. The device has a vibrating element with a plurality of openings through which a fluid is ejected when the vibrated. An enclosure defines a chamber which holds a single application of the fluid. The enclosure may be biased against the vibrating element with a spring load developed in whole or part by the resilient structure of the enclosure. The chamber may be substantially empty after the single application.

An apparatus for closing a surgical incision comprises left and right base panels, a plurality of closure components, and a plurality of left and right axial supports coupled to the respective base panels. The closure components couple the left and right base panels to each other laterally and have left and right ends coupled to the respective base panels. The closure components are positioned laterally across the left and right panels, the left axial supports are disposed between pairs of left closure component ends, the right axial supports are disposed between pairs of right closure component ends, and the left and right axial supports are offset from one another such that a serpentine arrangement of consecutive closure components and axial supports is formed. The apparatus can be made of antimicrobial materials or materials impregnated with antimicrobial agents. A flexible adhesive cover can be provided over the apparatus when in use.

A device for performing an ophthalmic procedure in an eye including a hand-held portion; an elongate member extending from a distal end region of the hand-held portion; and an aspiration pump within the hand-held portion. A hand-held aspiration device is provided which has a relatively small suction volume along a suction path to improve responsiveness of the aspiration device when the device is activated. The device may be manually powered and may be provided without electronic controls. The device has a suction path which may be purged into a disposal enclosure to reduce the volume of material under the influence of the suction pressure during the procedure. The suction source may also be part of the hand-held unit to further reduce the suction path and suction volume.

An exemplary surgical device includes a shaft with a lumen defined therethrough and an element movable from a stored position to a deployed position in which a larger portion of the element extends out of the distal end of the lumen; wherein motion from the stored position to the deployed position causes a first leg of the element to advance distally relative to the distal end of the shaft, and causes a second leg of the element to move proximally relative to the distal end of the shaft.
