The molecule detector may be configured such that molecules of interest produced during fractionization adhere to the molecule collector. A heating element may introduce heat within the sampling chamber, causing release of at least a portion of the molecules adhered to the molecule collector. An analysis device (e.g., a mass spectrometer, a terahertz (THz) spectrometer, etc.) may detect the presence of the one or more molecules of interest from among molecules produced during the fractionization and generate an output representative of the identified molecule(s) of interest. The output may include information that quantitates a concentration of the molecule(s) of interest within sample.

An analysis device (e.g., a mass spectrometer or Terahertz (THz) spectrometer) may identify one or more target VOCs from among at least the portion of the VOCs released from the molecule collector and generate an output representative of the identified target VOC(s). The output may include information that quantitates a concentration of the target VOC(s) with respect to a source of the breath sample.

A communication system comprises a processing system configured to support data, voice and video communications. A docking station is coupled to the processing system and is configured to provide power and data connections to a personal computer wireless device. The docking station includes a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone, such as a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), phone. Embodiments provide methods and systems for regulating the use of virtual reality environments provided to residents of controlled-environment facilities. In response to a request for virtual reality programs from an inmate, the privilege status of the inmate is used to determine the available virtual environments in which the inmate may participate. The participation of the inmate within a virtual reality session may be restricted based on the privilege status of the inmate. Any limitations on an inmate's participation within an approved virtual environment may be enforced by restricting the behavior of an avatar representing the inmate within the virtual environment. The privilege status of inmates may be used to enforce restrictions that prohibit contact between certain inmates or certain classifications of inmates. The participation of inmates may be restricted and terminated based on a measured physiological responses to the inmate's participation in a virtual environment.

Activity and aggression detection and monitoring in a controlled-environment facility includes gathering audio, video and/or telemetry input from one or more dedicated and/or ad hoc sensors disposed in portions of the controlled-environment facility. A baseline normal input level from each of the sensors indicative of normal activity in the controlled-environment facility (proximate to a subject sensor) is predetermined. A determination is then made whether the input from each of the sensors rises above or falls below the predetermined normal input level, and when it does, the sensor input of the subject sensor may be recorded. When input from a sensor rises above or falls below the predetermined normal input level, an alert may be issued to controlled-environment facility personnel and/or law enforcement, the input from the subject sensor may be streamed to the personnel, and/or a recording of the sensor input may be offered.

Systems and methods for detecting volume level changes in communications are described herein. In some embodiments, a system comprises a computer system. The computer system comprises at least one processor and a memory coupled to the at least one processor. The memory stores program instructions that are executable by the at least one processor to cause the computer system to perform tasks. The tasks include recording a communication that comprises audio, and analyzing the audio of the communication. The analysis of the audio is operable to detect a change in a volume level of the audio that indicates an occurrence of a potential event of interest. The tasks also include creating and storing an information record corresponding to the communication in a second database. The information record includes an indication of the detected change in the volume level.

Video communications of residents of a controlled-environment facility are monitored to detect instances of non-verbal communications within the video, such as the display of written messages and hand signals. Residents may participate in live video visitation sessions with non-residents. Video recordings are generated for each video feed of the live video visitation. During the live video visitation, indications of non-verbal communications displayed in the live video are detected. If indications of non-verbal communications are detected in the live video, the recorded video is annotated to specify the locations of the detected indications in the recording. Upon completion of the video visitation session, post-processing of the recorded video detects additional indications of displayed non-verbal communication. The additional indications may be detected at proximal locations to the annotations and may be detected based on sampling frames of the recording to detect changes in the color balance indicating the display of a message surface.

Embodiments facilitate booking, bonding, and release with respect to an inmate facility by providing assistance to a detainee communicating with service providers and friends and family. Assistance may include prequalifying a detainee for services, collecting information useful to the service provider, and providing collected information to the service provider. Assistance may include collecting information useful to the friend or family member and providing collected information to the friend or family member. Embodiments communicate with banking systems to allow a detainee or friends and family to employ various payment techniques in posting bail or in making payment to a service provider. Additional functionality, such as call accounting/logging, call recording, and message delivery, automated response, may be provided. Embodiments employ various profiles to facilitate providing assistance.

Systems and methods for facilitating booking, bonding and release

Systems and methods, which can provide for an indication of a privileged communication, are provided. A method, according to an embodiment, uses at least one processor of a communication server device. Addressee information of one or more addressee(s) of a communication, sender information of a sender of the communication, or a combination thereof is received. The sender information, the addressee information, or a combination thereof is compared to registered user information maintained in a database. The registered user information corresponds to registered users to or from whom privileged communications may be sent or received. An indication that the communication is privileged is provided when the sender information, the addressee information, or the combination thereof corresponds to respective registered user information maintained in the database.
