A explosive device is disclosed for collapsing an expansion-fit metal tube from within a hole of a metal plate of a boiler or the like. The device includes a connecting rod inserted into the tube and extending outwardly from top and bottom ends of the tube. The portion of the connecting rod extending out of the top end of the tube is encapsulated by a blast chamber containing an explosive charge. The portion of the connecting rod extending out of the bottom end of the tube is secured via a retaining plate held by a washer and nut threaded to the connecting rod.

Explosive tube removal device

The invention is related to a tube extracting device for removing a tube from a conventional drum of a boiler or heat exchanger. The device is positioned inside the drum. The device includes a hollow cylindrical wedge which cylindrically collapses a tube inwardly upon driving the wedge between the tube hole and outer tube wall. The wedge has longitudinal ridges on its inner surface and inwardly tapered edges at its end which is driven into the tube hole such that the tube may be readily inwardly collapsed. Upon retracting the wedge from the tube hole, the wedge engages the tube and the tube is removed from the drum inside the wedge.

Internal tube extracting device with a cylindrical collapsing wedge

A tube extraction device which facilitates the removal of a tube from a tube hole in a drum. The tube extraction device comprises a housing which is mounted over an exterior surface of the drum. The housing has an opening which receives a removed part of the tube. A wedge having a slanted face and a bottom edge is slidably mounted in the housing. At least one side thrusting ram and at least one drive down ram are slidably mounted in the housing. The side thrusting ram laterally moves the wedge so that the slanted face indents the tube inwardly, while the drive down ram drives the wedge down into the tube so that the tube collapses in the tube hole.

External tube deforming extraction device

The invention is related to a tube extracting device for removing a tube from a conventional drum of a boiler or heat exchanger. The device includes a wedge which is driven into a tube hole between the tube outer wall and the hole in the drum that the tube is in. The wedge has longitudinal ridges on its internal surface and inwardly tapered edges at its end which is driven into the zone between the tube hole and the outer wall of the tube such that the tube may be readily inwardly collapsed. Upon retracting the wedge from the tube hole, the tube is removed from the drum inside the wedge.
