A moisture proof binding tape for edge binding pages to form a book consisting of a non-permeable temperature resistant foil layer covering one side of the backing strip forming a moisture barrier, a high temperature steam resistance adhesive between the foil layer and the backing strip to secure the foil layer to the backing strip, and a relatively thick central stripe of high tack heat activated adhesive flanked by relatively thin side stripes of low tack heat activated adhesive on the foil layer, the central adhesive stripe comprising a non-hygroscopic adhesive.

A moisture proof binding tape for edge binding pages to form a book consisting of a non-permeable temperature resistant foil layer covering one side of the backing strip forming a moisture barrier, a high temperature steam resistance adhesive between the foil layer and the backing strip to secure the foil layer to the backing strip, and a relatively thick central stripe of low tack heat activated adhesive flanked by relatively thin side stripes of high tack heat activated adhesive on the foil layer.

There is disclosed a photoelectrophoretic imaging system wherein a layer of an imaging suspension is arranged between a conductive transparent electrode and a second electrode, preferably a blocking electrode, subjected to an electrical field and exposed to an imagewise pattern of activating electromagnetic radiation to form an image on the transparent electrode which is subsequently transferred to a receiver member and fixed thereto. The conductive transparent electrode comprises a layer of a conductive material overlying a layer of polymeric material which overlies a substrate and is also utilized during the transfer and fixing of the image.

Transfer of photoelectrophoretic images

A method and an apparatus for fixing an image formed by a colorant upon an image support body is described. A fluid, binder material contacts a heated transport surface. The heated surface comprises an elastomeric material which is positioned on a tubular body formed of a material having a relatively high coefficient of thermal conductivity. The transport surface advances the heated binder material to a nip formed with an adjacent pressure contact surface which is transported in moving engagement with the heated surface. The binder material at the nip temperature exhibits a viscosity which exceeds the surface energy of the elastomeric transport surface while the surface energy of the support material and the imaged surface is greater than the surface energy of the elastomer. The binder is thus transferred to the imaged surface for fixing the image thereon.

Image fixing

An improved photoelectrophoretic imaging method is disclosed wherein a blocking layer is provided with a coating which interacts, in the dark, with the pigment particles of the imaging suspension so as to provide a uniformly charged imaging suspension upon exposure of the suspension to an electric field. The coating comprises a dark charge injecting agent dispersed in an electrically insulating, alkyd resins derived from dibasic acids and polyhydric alcohols. Subsequent exposure to electromagnetic radiation to which at least some of the particles are sensitive then results in the formation of optically positive and negative images.
