An electrical connector includes a connector housing having a housing frame and a housing core. A housing core can be inserted in a housing frame. The housing core includes a latch protruding from the outer wall of the housing core and the housing frame includes locking means. The housing frame includes locking means. The locking means includes first and second guiding ramps. The first guiding ramp is configured to guide the latch upon insertion parallel to the extension direction of the interior wall of the housing frame onto the second guiding ramp. The second guiding ramp is configured to deflect the latch inwardly towards the interior of the housing frame.

An electrical connector assembly includes a housing having cavities for receiving electric contact elements and a fastening device to fasten a cable harness that includes the electrical contact elements. The electrical connector assembly also includes a cover attached to the housing. A housing transition portion of the housing and a cover transition portion of the cover cooperate with each other to define a tube shaped guiding channel for guiding the cable harness. The fastening device is arranged inside the guiding channel. The fastening device comprises means configured to cooperate with a cable tie such that it guides and holds the cable tie in a holding direction perpendicular to an extension direction of the guiding channel.

Electrical connector assembly

An electrical connector includes a connector housing configured to receive a corresponding mating connector, a cable guide cover attached to the connector housing, and a mate assist system for assisting in mating to the corresponding mating connector. The mate assist system includes a lever moveable to assembly, open, and closed positions. The lever includes gear means connected with a slider in the connector housing. The lever moves the slider to a first, second, and third position. The lever is releasable and attachable to the connector housing only in the assembly position. The cable guide cover is attachable to the connector housing only when the lever is in the closed position. The slider has a releasing means cooperating with a releasing means of the corresponding mating connector to unblock the slider while mating and enabling movement of the lever to the closed position, thereby moving the slider to the third position.

Electrical connector with lever and method for operating same

The invention relates to an electrical plug connector for a safety restraint system, preferably for an airbag ignition system, including at least two contact terminals disposed within the plug connector and a shorting clip, that is configured to short circuit the at least two contact terminals in an uncoupled or incorrectly coupled condition of the plug connector. The shorting clip includes at least two shorting tongues. Each shorting tongue is electrically connected with a respective contact terminal. Each shorting tongue further includes at least one electrical contact surface and at least one of the shorting tongues includes an actuating member. The actuating member is provided with an actuating surface that is configured to interact with a separator device. The contact surfaces are not arranged within the same plane as the actuating surface(s).
