An LED retrofit lamp for a projection headlight system comprises a heat dissipating body portion and a substantially rectangular substrate. A first LED group is mounted on a first surface of the substrate and a second LED group is mounted on a second surface. A support bracket is configured to engage longitudinal sides of the substrate to mechanically support the substrate in alignment with a central optical axis of the headlight system so that light emitted by the first and second LED groups parallel to the first and second surfaces illuminates corresponding top and bottom segments of a cooperating reflector with sufficient intensity for projection headlight system to form a beam having substantially homogenous light intensity.

LED retrofit lamp for use in projector type automotive headlight system

An LED retrofit lamp includes a centering ring with alignment features, which define: a mounting position of the lamp within a vehicle reflector, a reference axis, a reference direction along the reference axis from a base to a top end of the lamp, and a tolerance box intersecting the reference axis and extending axially along the reference direction from a tolerance box base-side end to a tolerance box top-side end. The lamp also includes an arrangement that emits light transversal to the reference axis and has a light-emitting area that extends axially from an LED base-side end to an LED top-side end. The LED base-side end has an axial distance of at least 0.1 mm from the tolerance box base-side end in the reference direction, and the LED top-side end has an axial distance of at most 1.5 mm from the tolerance box top-side end in the reference direction.

LED retrofit for vehicle lighting

The invention describes a method of analyzing a light distribution of a vehicle headlight. The method determines a cutoff line based on a brightness distribution within a column of an image of the light distribution, the column being perpendicular to a horizon in the image. The method compares the cutoff line with a reference cutoff line and uses the deviations revealed by such comparison to attribute a reduced quality of the light distribution to a particular one of several possible causes. The invention further describes a vehicle headlight analyzer which is arranged to perform the method. The invention finally describes a corresponding computer program product comprising code for executing the method on a processing device.

Efficient white lamp for vehicle headlight

The invention relates to a headlight for a vehicle, comprising a concave reflector and a lamp arranged within the reflector to reflect light from the lamp to create an illumination beam with a bright/dark boundary. The lamp comprises a transparent vessel including a longitudinal axis, at least a first and second filament arranged within the vessel. A baffle arranged proximate to the first filament, and comprising first and second upper side edges. The first filament is arranged above a plane including the upper side edges. A different plane is through the center of the first filament and is arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The upper side edges are arranged symmetrically to a baffle symmetry axis extending from the center of the first filament centrally between the upper side edges. An automotive LED lamp unit includes a plate-like mounting member, LED light sources arranged on two opposite sides of the plate-like mounting member, and a heat sink. The heat sink includes cooling fins and a tapered portion facing the LED light sources and being connected to one end of the plate-like mounting member.

A lamp has a light emitting element within a sealed transparent vessel. The vessel comprises a cylindrical section with a longitudinal axis L in parallel to a longitudinal axis F of the light emitting element. In order to provide a lamp suited for compact reflectors, a heat shielding element is arranged to shield at least infrared light. The heat shielding element is arranged in parallel to the longitudinal axis F of the light emitting element and has an axial extension of at least 80% of the light emitting element. The present invention relates to a LED lamp unit replacing an H4 bulb in a headlamp. The LED lamp unit () at least comprises two LED light sources () arranged on two opposing sides of a support member () to emit in opposed half-spaces, a heat sink () and an electrical connector socket. The electrical connector socket is designed to fit in a lamp holder of a H4 headlamp such that the plane () separating the opposed half-spaces is tilted around the optical axis () of the headlamp by an angle of between 5&#xb0; and 30&#xb0; against the horizontal plane when the connector socket is mounted in the lamp holder. The proposed LED lamp unit replaces H4 bulbs in H4 headlamps and achieves the required legal beam pattern without changing the optical design of the headlamp.
